“What are you guys waiting for?” I say, unable to stay patient anymore. “Go and cook something for her.

Damon stares at me, his frown slowly smoothing away. “She’s really coming home,” he says in a slow, halting way as if the news is just sinking in. “I can finally hold her in my arms.”

“Yep. So, hurry downstairs and make her a ton of food. Oh, and make me a bacon sandwich!”

“You just said you weren’t hungry.”

“Well, I’m hungry now,” I quip.

Damon’s face brightens immediately. “Yes!” he howls. “We’re all going to be together again!” Shouting like a maniac, he jumps off the bed and runs out of the room.

“Don’t just stand there,” I order Caleb. “Come over here and help me get downstairs.”

“Are you sure?” he asks. “It hurts you to move your body.”

I wave a hand. “Whatever,” I mutter, climbing off the bed. Groans escape me as I drag my injured leg. “I need to make sure she’s really okay. You guys haven’t told me why she needed to go to a clinic in the first place. It’s time I found the answer from her lips.”

Coming to my side, Caleb grabs my arm and wounds it around his shoulder. “You can be a real pain-in-the-ass sometimes,” he says, allowing me to lean on him. “Iris could’ve easily come in here to see you.”

A reluctant grin teases the corner of his lips despite his complaints. He’s acting annoyed but deep inside, he’s just as excited to see her as me and Damon.

Gasps and groans escape me as I begin the journey down the stairs. Caleb is allowing me to put my entire weight on him but it’s still hard to put my leg forward.

“Hang on,” says Caleb. “Keep holding onto me this way.” With a sudden move, he bends and sweeps me into his arm.

A chuckle escapes me despite the pain that erupts in my leg from the sudden movement. “I wish Iris could be here to see you carrying me bridal style,” I say, choking with laughter.

“She’d go weak in the knees for us, huh?” he says with a grin.

It’s been a while since I saw my mate smiling. Warmth spreads through me as I look forward to having our pack together again.

Reaching the hall downstairs, Caleb sets me down on a couch.

“Comfortable?” he asks, thrusting a cushion under my knee.

“Yeah. Stop fussing over me and go help Damon. Iris and Raiden will be here soon and I want the food ready the moment they come in.”

“Yes, Captain,” Caleb says with a mock salute. Flashing me a grin, he marches toward the kitchen.

I check my phone to see if there are any new texts from Raiden when Caleb comes back into the room. He’s carrying a tray filled with cartons of chopped fruit.

“You could’ve at least placed the fruit in a bowl or a platter,” I say with a frown.

“Oh,” he mutters. “Guess I’ll go get some bowls, then.”

“Hurry!” I urge. “I want everything perfect for her.”

I smother a snort as a grim expression settles on Caleb’s face. He hurries toward the kitchen, probably stressed about bowls and dishes.

I shouldn’t be teasing him but after the hellish last couple of days, I need to vent some of my pent-up frustration. Waking up in a strange place with my body hurting like a bitch hadn’t been fun. It was worse having to spend the last few days worrying about Iris’s absence.

Soon, the coffee table before me is filled with dishes of scrambled eggs, bacon sandwiches, and bowls of fruit and salad.

Caleb and Damon are just bringing in a stack of plates and cutlery when I hear the sound of the front door opening.

We all freeze and in perfect synch, glance toward the passageway that leads into the entrance hall.

“Julian!” Iris’s shout reaches me from the hallway. “Damon! Where are you guys?”
