“We found Iris,” I say and touch a finger on my lips to make Raiden stay quiet. “We’re all okay.”
“Thank fuck!” Damon’s heavy breathing is audible over the line. “Thank fuck you guys are okay. You have no idea about the stress I’ve been dealing with. The medical services are finally here and it’s full-blown chaos. Reporters are storming the estate while I’m struggling to secure the perimeters. I want to go down into the basement cells, grab a Black Widow bastard and rip his head off.”
“You know you can’t do that,” I say in a commanding tone. “We need them alive so they can spill their guts about what they know.”
“Oh, I’m looking forward to the good times already,” Damon says with a dark chuckle. “By the way, where are you right now? You’ve got to come here asap. Dad’s on his way here. There’ll be hell if he finds you missing during a time like this.”
“I’m nearby,” I say. “I’ll be there within half an hour.”
“Great! I can’t wait to see Iris. It’s bad enough that Julian had to be taken away by the paramedics and I couldn’t follow him.”
I make a quick decision not to tell Damon anything right now. He’s already stressed and knowing about Iris’s condition will only make things worse for him. I need him in full command right now.
“Hang in there,” I say. “We’ll be there soon.” Switching off the call, I glance toward Raiden. “I need to rush home right away.”
“Damon knows nothing about the situation here, does he?”
“He doesn’t need the extra stress while there’s a shit ton more work to do”, I say. “Iris is safe for now. It’s time we focused our attention on the attack and evaluate the damage that we’ve sustained.”
“I’m staying here,” Raiden says in a determined voice. “As long as Callahan is still out there, we’ll need to watch over her.”
I nod. “There are a lot of things we need to figure out fast. The top on the list is investigating Callahan’s links to Black Widow. I have a hunch he’s hiding a mountain of crap under the guise of a military official.”
“That’s right,” Raiden agrees.
I slap a hand on his shoulder and squeeze hard. “Let me know when she wakes up.”
He nods. “No worries. I’ll keep you updated.”
I move forward to give him a quick hug before turning away and walking out of the lobby.
Callahan has proven himself to be a threat to my pack tonight. I’ll not rest until I’ve made sure he’s arrested and behind bars. As for the Black Widow, I’ll sweep away their webs and hunt each of them down so that they can never hurt innocent people again.

Raiden
I stretch my legs out and lean against the backrest of a couch. This late at night, the clinic’s lobby is quiet and deserted. The night staff is still working but they’re all gathered in the inner halls.
Caleb has already left for home. I check my phone for updates but there are none from my brothers. They must both be busy containing the shitstorm the Black Widow unleashed on us.
A wide yawn escapes me. The quiet room makes me relax and it’s not long before my eyelids grow heavy.
I must’ve fallen asleep at some point because a sudden noise jerks me from my doze. Startled, I sit up and immediately look toward the doorway that leads into the clinic.
At least a dozen men in black uniforms are gathered outside the glass-paneled door. Two of their members are hitting at the doorknob, but when it refuses to open, one of them takes their gun out and fires at it.
“What the fuck...” I hiss, jumping behind the couch and taking my gun out.
The door swings open, allowing the violent horde to stomp inside.
“What was that noise?” I hear a female voice calling from the other side of the room.
“Get down!” I shout, aiming for the man who had his gun pointed at the middle-aged nurse.
My instincts kick in, making me shoot at the stranger before he can harm the innocent woman. My action, however, draws the attention of the rest of his companions.
The men aim for me, shooting all at once.
