I give a nod.

“This way,” he says, gesturing toward the far corner of the hallway. “Dr. Lawson informed me about you. I’ll take you up to the clinic right away.”

I give a nod, grateful to have someone showing me the way. Iris is slumped against me and her body is growing cold. She needs help right away.

Raiden follows us and enters the elevator. Our guide punches a ‘6’ on the side panel and steps back. I hold my breath as the steel cabin lurches and starts ascending.

The doors slide open on the sixth floor. The guard hurries out and we follow him.

Dr. Lawson is waiting for us inside the lobby. She rushes forward the moment she sees me.

“Place her here,” she says, gesturing toward a gurney.

I place Iris on the cot and stare at the pinched look on her pale face.

Two nurses come forward and start wheeling her away.

“Is she going to be okay?” Raiden asks as Dr. Lawson turns around to follow the nurses.

“Be patient,” she replies with a grim expression. “I’ll need to perform a thorough check-up on her first.” She looks my way. “You said she was drugged. Do you have any idea what they gave her?”

Raiden takes the syringe out of his pocket. “I found this.”

Dr. Lawson takes the syringe and runs a finger along the broken needle. “Any idea who injected her and what his purpose could be?”

“He found out she’s an omega,” I say through gritted teeth.

Surprise flickers through her face. “So, you already know.”

I nod. “Iris isn’t just an omega.”

“She’s our fated mate as well,” Raiden completes my sentence. His blue eyes shimmer with unshed tears. “She needs to get better. Sheneedsto come back to us.”

Dr. Lawson turns her attention to the syringe. She flicks at it with her finger and looks closely. That’s when I notice there’s still a tiny amount of liquid left inside.

“Give me some time,” she says with a gentler expression. “I knew Iris was special the first time I spoke to her. She didn’t want anyone to know of her designation despite having lived the hard life of a beta. Being an omega could bring her so much comfort and luxury but she was choosing to give them up.”

“It was our fault,” I say. “Well, it was my fault. I didn’t deserve her trust after the way I treated her.”

“Things are different now, though,” says Raiden, squeezing my shoulder. “You jumped into an unknown situation to rescue her.”

I gaze at the alpha woman. “Please, do everything you can to help her. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you need anything from us.”

“It’ll take a while but I’ll come back with more information. Until then, be patient.” She walks away and disappears down the hallway.

“Come on,” says Raiden, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. “Let’s sit over there.”

We take a seat on a couch in the visitor’s area.

“There’s so much blood on you,” he says, grabbing my hand. “Are you hurt?”

My knuckles hurt but I don’t care. My mind is filled with a thousand scattered thoughts. I’m worried about Iris as well as Julian and Damon. My men are hurt and confused and need my attention as well.

I feel something soft being brushed over my knuckles.

Looking down, I see Raiden using a handkerchief to clean up the blood.

A heavy breath escapes me. Raiden is the youngest among us but grew to be the tallest and buffest. He’s got the softest heart despite his intimidating stature.
