“Who the hell decides to bring strange women to a ceremonial service?” Raiden shouts. “Some of these pack leaders are fucking morons.”

“None of this is helping us find Caroline,” I say, feeling scared. “She’s in danger right now. I don’t want to say this but we have to let him go.”

“Do you know what that means?” Julian says in a grim tone.

I nod, knowing the seriousness of the situation. If we free Callahan, it’d be a hard task to catch him again.

I gesture for my mates to get closer. “We have enough proof against him to get the military involved,” I whisper. “We’ll let him think he’s won against us once again. In the meantime, we’ll alert Gerald and tell him everything. I’m sure he’ll support us this time.”

Raiden closes his eyes and curses. “We were so fucking close to destroying the Black Widow!”

“At least, we saved those kids,” says Julian.

“We have to make sure they don’t take Mom with them,” says Damon. “I’ll take Callahan to the gates while Raiden stays back to look for Mom.” He glances at me and Julian. “Stick close to him. I don’t want either of you straying out of sight.”

“We’ll be fine,” Julian says, exhaling a long breath. “Don’t worry about us.”

Damon moves toward Callahan.

“Hurry up, moron,” Callahan drawls.

Damon lowers his gaze and stares at Callahan’s exposed dick. A smirk comes on his lips as he starts lowering the chain, allowing his captive to stand on his two feet.

“What’re you grinning about?” Callahan asks in a poison-laced voice. “I’ll make sure you cry rivers of blood for what you’ve done to me. As for Rose, I’ll break her body and crush her soul. I will kill that male omega and—”

Damon cuts off his tirade with a hard punch.

Callahan’s head is thrown back. A few seconds later, it slowly lolls forward. The blow was hard enough to knock him out completely.

Raiden’s raised voice makes me look toward him.

“Get the bomb squad to scour every inch of this property,” Raiden barks in a commanding tone. “Make sure to check every building, including the mansion. We don’t have a second to waste, understand?”

Looking toward Damon, I find Julian kneeling beside him, helping him cuff Callahan’s wrists. When they’re done, they roll out a plastic tarp. Placing Callahan in the center, they make a burrito roll out of him.

“No one will see you carrying him out of here,” I say.

“Yep. That’s the idea,” says Damon. “Call that bitch and tell her we’re coming to the gates. Ask for Mom’s location or we cancel the deal.”

“I’m on it,” says Raiden in a grim tone. He puts the phone on speaker so we can hear what’s being said on the other side.

“Where’s our master?” The strange woman asks the moment she picks up the call.

“He’s here,” Raiden answers and walks toward Callahan’s unconscious body. He turns the phone toward him, allowing the camera to give her a glimpse of his face. “We’re bringing him out. Now, tell us where you’re holding our mother.”

“Not yet,” she says. “You won’t know where she is until you’ve brought our master to us.”

“How can we trust you?”

“Do you have a choice?” the stranger demands. “You’ve already spent four minutes. Bring our master to us or she dies!”

“Shit!” Raiden spits as the call switches off.

“We’ll get Mom back,” Damon says in a softer tone. Squeezing Raiden’s shoulder, he hugs him tightly. “Just stay calm, okay?”

“Yeah,” Raiden breathes, burying his face in Damon’s shoulder.

Julian holds my hand tightly. His gaze is somber as he stares into my eyes.
