Gasps escape me as I pant heavily. My heart beats hard against my rib cage as I stare at Callahan’s unmoving body.

A cool, cathartic emotion washes over me as I stand before him.

I’ve finally beaten the monster that has haunted both my dreams and every waking hour. He’s the man who’s hurt me over and over again, threatening to destroy every person I hold close to my heart.

“This is for Julian,” I say, kicking at his side with all my might.

His body shakes from the impact but he doesn’t utter a single noise.

Kneeling before him, I place a finger under his bloodied nose. Warm air rushes over my skin.

The asshole is still alive.

It’d be so easy to throttle him right now and end his life. I breathe hard, fighting the overwhelming urge.

I want the whole world to know what Callahan has done. It’s the only way my parents and the hundreds of innocents he’s killed will receive justice. I want his name marked with the darkest, foulest ink so that even the coming generations will know of this man’s treachery.

Loud bangs sound at the door, breaking me out of my thoughts.

“Iris!” Julian’s voice calls my name from outside the door.

“Open up or I’ll break this door!” Raiden’s shout joins Julian’s.

Taking a deep breath, I step around Callahan’s body and open the door.

Julian and Raiden nearly get stuck at the door as they both try to barge in together.

“Are you okay?” Raiden asks, finally managing to be the first one to enter through the door.

“Yeah,” I say as his hands brush over my face and arms.

“I’m fine, guys,” I say as a smile blossoms on my lips.

“Holy shit!” Julian breathes, staring down at Callahan. “Did you kill him?”

“I almost did,” I say.

Raiden kneels beside Callahan and checks his pulse. “He’s alive.”

“I’m glad you didn’t barge in here before I was done with him,” I say, glancing at both my mates. “I was afraid you’d blow my act and alert him.”

“You have no idea what I was going through,” Julian says in a grim tone. “It was pure hell to watch him drag you up those stairs.”

“I nearly lost my shit when he took you inside the bathroom and shut the door,” says Raiden.

“We decided to wait outside,” says Julian.

Raiden nods. “The shouts and noises told us you were giving him hell but when it got too quiet, we started worrying. We had to know you were okay.”

“I’m okay,” I say, wrapping my arms around Raiden’s waist.

He pulls me closer. His scent wraps around me, comforting me at once.

“What’s that?” I say, feeling something vibrating against me.

“It’s my phone,” Raiden says, reaching inside his jacket pocket to take his cellphone out. His brows knot together as he stares at the screen. Swiping right, he picks up the call.

“Raiden?” Caleb’s voice sounds from the phone.
