I nod and look toward the entrance to the gym. Iris’s shouts filter out into the corridor as she continues to practice her moves.

“How about we go talk in my room?” I suggest. “Iris doesn’t need to hear this crap right away. She has enough shit to handle on her own anyway.”

Raiden gives a nod and moves forward. Without warning, he hauls me up in his arms.

A gasp escapes me as I hurry to lock my arms around his neck. “Will you stop it?” I complain with a pout. “My leg’s not as bad as it used to be. I can go up the stairs just fine.”

“Did you forget the look Iris had when she saw me carrying you into the kitchen?”

I chuckle as her heat-flushed cheeks and glazed eyes flash through my mind. “She was so aroused by us,” I say with a snort.

Raiden growls. “I could smell her arousal. It fucking turned me on.”

“Same here,” I say. “You have no idea how hard it’s been to have her around all the time and not be able to touch her. Stupid broken ribs. My dick hates my broken body.”

Raiden raises an eyebrow. “You sound like an entitled prick,” he says, frowning down at me. “At least, you get to stay close to her. Me? I only get to fantasize about her.”

I grin. “That’s true. Thank fuck my broken ribs come withsomeadvantage.”

Leaning down, he lightly nips my bottom lip before swiping a tongue over it. His light blue eyes blaze with intensity. “You have no idea how much I’ve wanted you too.”

My heart pounds against my chest. Heat flows through my veins, igniting a fire in my lower belly that’s hard to ignore.

“Stop,” I groan. “My cock can’t take any more teasing.”

“Then, get better soon,” he says, pushing through the door of the new tech room. “It’s hard to control myself when I’m around you.”

He sets me down on a chair by one of the desktop computers. Grabbing a seat himself, he glances at me with a serious look. “So, what have you found out about that asshole?”

“Do you remember all the boring history lessons we learned about the Order of Lost Sanctum?” I ask him while my fingers type out the password to unlock the desktop screen.

“The crazies who thought we should still be living in our tiny fiefdoms?”

“Yep,” I say as anger burns inside me. “The crazy, twisted alphas who wanted to control the entire beta population and rule over them. As for the omegas, we’d be treated like sex toys they could play with at their whim.”

Raiden’s expression darkens. “It still baffles me to think people could be so fucking twisted. Thank fuck we don’t have to deal with such bastards in this century.”

“Think again.”

“What do you mean?”

“Callahan’s family sprang from a branch of the Byron family,” I say, opening up several pages on an information portal that I had to hack into. “Look.”

Raiden shifts his chair closer to the computer screen.

“The Byrons were staunch supporters of the Order,” he says slowly. “What’s that got to do with Callahan? The Order hasn’t existed for decades now. Packs like ours made sure to destroy them.”

I shake my head. “The Order might not exist anymore but their ideologies still live through their descendants. I’ve been thinking about Callahan’s motive behind creating the Black Widow. Investigating his family background has finally made things clearer.”

“You think he’s running a terrorist organization because he believes alphas should go back to becoming the ruling class?”

“A man can’t suddenly decide he wants to destroy the government and have an army ready at his disposal,” I explain. “Callahan has been building an army for the past twenty years. We’ve seen the scale of destruction the Black Widow is capable of. They’re trained men who’re provided with advanced weapons. I believe his family has been developing the organization for several years now.”

Raiden stays quiet but I can see a storm brewing in his ice-blue eyes.

“Iris’s father comes from the Burton pack,” I say.

Surprise flickers through Raiden’s gaze. “Seriously?”
