“Ididmake it specially for you but you won’t be eating the whole thing.”

“Why not?” he pouts.

“Do you want to get chubby?” Caroline chides.

A snort escapes me.

Julian turns around to face me and frowns.

Moving closer to him, I peck his lips. Rising on my toes, I lean into his ear and whisper, “I’d love you even if you get chubby.”

Julian grins, his lavender-hued eyes shining.

“Come along, you two,” Caroline says in an authoritative voice. “Help me carry everything to the dining room.”

“Yes, ma’am,” says Julian at once.

A stupid smile comes onto my lips as I help them. It’s an incredible feeling to be part of a pack. I never thought something like this was possible for an abandoned girl like me, but Caroline has driven away all my doubts.

She’s the matriarch of the Solveig Pack and is as important as her mate, Gerald. While the alpha is responsible for protecting the pack, the omega is responsible for keeping the pack together.

Caroline’s acceptance means the world to me. She’s so motherly and affectionate, I can help falling in love with her. All the nervousness I felt earlier melts away as I look forward to trying out her delicious food.

Mom’s lavish dinner has turned everyone into a couch potato. I can’t remember the last time I stuffed so much food in my mouth.

The whole pack is gathered in one of the family parlors and lounging near the fireplace.

Julian is seated between Damon and Raiden and is eating his fourth slice of pineapple cake. He barely ate anything at dinner, making everyone worry and fuss over him.

While the rest of us stuffed ourselves with meat, pasta, and salads, he was cleverly leaving room for the gorgeous cake mom baked today. A smug grin curves his luscious lips, urging me to take a bite of them.

Damon seems to have the same thought as me.

Leaning in, he swipes his tongue over Julian’s lips which are smeared with cream and icing. A devilish grin comes onto my brother’s lips as he nips Julian’s bottom lip and makes a small growling sound in his throat.

“Let me eat my cake,” Julian says, frowning.

“But, I’m hungry for you, Jules,” Damon moans. “Let me have a piece of you.”

An annoyed look comes over my mate. Getting up, he places himself on Raiden’s lap. Damon doesn’t give up and continues poking and kissing Julian, deliberately keeping him from eating his cake.

A smile blossoms on my lips. It’s good to see my brothers being so playful.

A heavy breath escapes me.We’re all together and safe, my mind whispers, leaving me feeling truly relieved and relaxed.

“I’m impressed by the way you’ve managed everything,” Dad says in a lowered voice. “The pack is together despite the threats you’ve been facing over the past few weeks.”

My gaze falls on Iris. She’s the sole reason we’ve been able to manage the mountain of crap Callahan left behind for us. Her presence is a source of constant comfort for me and my brothers.

We never had to worry about Julian while we stayed away for days. Not only that, Iris made sure we were always fed with homecooked food whether we were at home or away.

“Thanks for supporting us,” I tell Dad. He not only sanctioned more soldiers to join our battalions but also allocated a bigger quota of weapons for our arsenal. Our estate is stronger and more heavily guarded than ever before.

“You deserve it,” he says. “No other pack in the country has sacrificed as much for our people’s safety as us. My colleagues support me in my decision and agree that it was a fair deal to let you fortify your base.”
