His whole face changes, and he lunges for me. “You’re pregnant?” I nod, blinking back happy tears. “You’re pregnant! Hot damn, we made a baby!” he exclaims, and wraps me in his arms. “A kid made out of you and me! This is the best present ever!”

He sounds like such a little kid himself that I can’t help laughing through my tears.

Just think, more than seventeen years ago I met a geeky kid in the library, and he turned out to be the sexiest thing on the planet…and now we’re making a family together.

“I can’t wait for this kid to be born,” I say, kissing him.

“Me too.” He kisses me back. “So this is why you turned down the champagne last night.”

I nod.

He plants one more loud smacker on my mouth before rolling to his back and laughing out loud.

“What?” I tease, circling a finger on the soft skin below his collarbone.

“I can’t wait to buy this kid its very own wizard wand.”

I laugh too, and then start to kiss him in earnest, and sooner than I could have imagined, we’re joining our bodies again—the way our hearts have been joined forever.

We are very late to dinner that night, and we are not one bit sorry.
