Inarian seems to know what that means, looking at me through hazy eyes. “I love you,” he whispers.
Tears flow faster. “Shut up!”
Draco grabs a dagger and flips it in his hand. I try to pull from the chair, begging. He reels back, aiming right at Inarian’s chest, and I watch in horror as the dagger stabs his flesh. Heat surges through my whole entire body, and I can’t help but scream.
The lights in the warehouse surge and flicker. Inarian’s head falls forward as blood pours from his wound. Draco leans forward, licking the blood up with a smirk.
No! No! A scream escapes my throat as my eyes squeeze shut. I can see Fenric’s and my father’s bodies in front of me. Dying. They keep fucking killing the people I fucking care about.
I’m fucking pissed but still unable to move. “I’m going to kill you!”
“Now, don’t get too hot, girl,” Evara says nonchalantly.
“You took my family away from me, murdered my brother. You took my boyfriend, and now you have taken my fucking hound? I am so fucking sick and tired of you all!”
“She’s exploding,” Circe mutters, backing up a bit.
“It was fun watching Fenric crumble to the ground as he fucking died. I loved watching that.”
Anger takes over, and I can’t take it anymore. Flames illuminate my skin. “You loved killing an innocent boy? You will never be Queen. I am the fucking Queen!”
“Not for long!” Evara says.
My broken telum appears, and with the Flame blazing in my body, the rope tying me down sizzles away. I grab the sword and charge. The rage inside me has fueled the flames on the golden sword, forming the rest of it. Why couldn’t I fucking do this while we were getting attacked?
Evara must have thought her magic would work on me, but this time it didn’t. I swing the sword, and she holds up a dagger at the last minute. “I am the fucking queen,” I grit, pushing the blade closer to her.
Movement behind me has me pulling back and dodging the attack from Draco. Standing before them, I reach up, grabbing the dagger’s hilt in my shoulder and pulling it out. Blood rushes down my body, soaking my clothes.
Both Draco and Evara lunge for me, and I block Draco’s attack with two of my weapons before kicking him back. Evara swings at me, reaching for the weapon, and I pull back, kicking her in the face.
I summon fire, spreading around mine and Inarian’s bodies in a last-ditch effort.
“Enough,” Circe’s voice comes from behind me. I twist around, and her fingers wrap around my throat. My flames shudder as her hold tightens. “Weird. Your mother died the same way.”
I drop the weapons, reach up and grab her wrists.
That gives Evara enough time to try to pick up the sword, but she hisses in pain as she holds it. “Do we need her?”
Circe shakes her head. “I was a part of her too.” She lifts me in the air and throws me. My back screams in pain as I hit the concrete wall. Rocks tumble onto me, making me wince at the pain. I lift my head, watching as Circe reaches for the sword.
I recall my weapon, but it doesn’t move.
Instead, Circe picks it up with no harm done to her. Her eyes move to mine with a smirk on her face. “Look at that… maybe we are twins.” She chuckles before all three of them disappear. I lift myself up, grabbing my side. Hissing in pain, I notice the flames have climbed the walls and spread all over the floor, trapping us. Scrambling, I try to reach Inarian before it’s too late.
My jaw is tight as I watch Asura lose control and lose the sword. The last footage we see is the room erupting into flames, and the three disappear into thin air. Rushing, I push into Thorne’s room, seeing the blood transfusion taking too damn long.
I rip the needle from his arm as nurses scream at me to stop.
Fuck that.
My eyes fall on him before I use the needle to rip open my forearm and shove it right onto Thorne’s lips.
After a moment, the vampire opens his eyes and bares his fangs. They sink right into my arm, and I let out a yelp. I can literally feel him suck and take my blood. The black veins in Thorne’s pale body start to disappear. When the black veins are gone, I yank my arm out of his mouth and grab his face. “Asura is in trouble.”
He and I morph into the shadows within seconds, traveling away from the hospital. Heat engulfs me, and I know we have made it. Through Asura’s flames, I can see her clinging to Inarian. It makes me remember how she looked when we got to her house and how she was clinging to Fenric.
My heart breaks, and anger soars through me.
