“Zack,” I whimper.
His throaty hum is his reply to my needy plea. Arousal floods my sex, drowning his fingers. He pulls them out, bringing them to his lips.
“Fuck, I’ve missed the taste of you,” he says as he sucks his fingers clean.
“Zack, I need you.”
He stands, lifting me with him. In nine large strides, we’re in his room. He puts me on the bed and grabs a condom from hiswallet. I’m ready as he moves over me, entering me in a single thrust that takes my breath away.
“Fuck. I’ve missed you, Machelle.”
He says my name the way some might say a prayer. Tears prickle behind my eyes, but I blink them away. We’ve had sex multiple times, but this feels different. This feels like he’s loving my body with his. The realization has me gasping out his name as I climb higher and higher toward finding bliss.
“More,” I rasp.
He gives me exactly what I want andneed, just like always.
“Zack,” I cry out. “Oh, god! Yes!”
His thrusts become shallow, and the look on his face takes my breath away. He comes, sending me into another wave of bliss. I swear to god I hear angels singing as I come down from the high that can only be found by being with him.
He rolls off me, disposing of the condom. There’s a moment where I’m afraid we’re about to settle back into our old routine. The storm has let up, so we could technically leave. But that doesn’t happen. Instead, he climbs in bed next to me, pulling me close. As my eyes grow heavy, a thought hits me. This is the first time we’ve ever spent the night together. I’m smiling as I drift off to sleep.
CHAPTER EIGHT
The next morning, I wake up in Zack’s arms. It’s the first time we’ve done this, and it feels special. He’s awake, staring down at me.
“What? Was I drooling?” I ask, wiping my face just in case.
“Just thinking about how beautiful you are.”
That has my body tingling. If he hadn’t worn me out last night, I’d climb on him and show him how appreciative I am of his kind words. But my vagina would never forgive me, so I resist.
His lips brush against mine in a soft kiss. “I’m glad we’re here together. It’s nice waking up like this.”
“I was thinking the same thing.”
He runs his hand through his hair and says, “I don’t want this to be a one-time thing.”
My heart skitters in my chest. “What do you mean?”
“I like you, Machelle. A lot. Not being able to talk to you has been hard. It felt like losing my best friend.” He gives me a cheeky grin. “And I missed the sex.”
“I missed you, too. And I guess maybe even the sex.”
We both know I definitely missed the sex, too. I’m pretty sure I told him at least a dozen times last night.
“You said you were tired of running around and it scared me. I haven’t had a girlfriend in a long time. What if I fuck up everything?”
“What if you don’t?”
“That’s where I am now. I’d like to give this a try for real this time.”
“No more sneaking around?”
He grins. “Only if you want to.”
“Fair enough. But, for the record, I want everyone to know that we’re together.”
