I’d remained in my office, frozen to my seat as betrayal tore at me. Then livid jealousy.
“Have you fucked him?” I fasten the button on my pants. Reclasp my belt.
“No.” Her voice is shaky. “It’s not like that.” She tugs on the handcuffs and winces. “Release my wrist and let me explain.”
“Your confinement doesn’t stop the function of that pretty mouth of yours.” I stare down at her, trying to pinpoint the moment she thought it was okay to lie to me. “And I suggest you hurry. I have a date with Easton, and I don’t want to keep him waiting.”
I wouldn’t have thought it possible but her face loses more color.
“Cole. Please.” She reaches for me. “It isn’t what you think. I’m not cheating. I would never cheat—”
“No?” I raise a brow and fix the top button of my shirt. “Then why do the facts paint a different picture?”
“What facts?” Her eyes plead.
Everything about her begs for understanding—her voice, those beautiful lips, her tempting body. She has always made me mindless. She always will.
“You deliberately left the house without your phone. Then you drove in circles, taking alleys and wrong turns.”
“You track my car?” She clenches a fist in the coverings.
“Of course I track your fucking car, Nissa. I value your safety.”
“No, you value my slavery.”
That’s not the case. I’ve never wanted her shackled.
The threats piling against her left me with no choice but to clip her wings. Threats that I’ve kept to myself and my men because she chose not to be informed of the darkest depths of my business.
“And then there’s this.” I pull my cell from my pants pocket, scroll to my most recent message from Luca, then show her the photo he sent. “See those hands? The ones your ex-lover has all over my fiancée?”
Her breathing increases, her anger bubbling to the surface.
If I wasn’t high strung on fury I’d fuck her all over again just so I could write ‘my property’ over every inch of her skin with my seed.
“It was a hug,” she snaps. “Aninnocenthug from a colleague. Afriend. You know we’ve never slept together.”
I lock the phone, not bothering to show the image Luca snapped of Easton kissing her. It may not have been a kiss on the lips, but that mouth was onmywoman.
The one I own and who possesses every inch of me in return.
“All I know is what you told me.” I grip the lapels of my jacket and smooth out the material. “And apparently that shit is littered with fabrication.”
“No, it’s not.” She scrambles to her knees, her cuffed arm at an odd angle behind her. “I made a mistake in not telling you. Don’t take that out on him.”
“I’ll try my best.” I start for the door.
“Cole.” She raises her voice. “Uncuff me.”
“I will.” I pause at the threshold. “Eventually. Until then, you should try to finish that orgasm on your own because I might be a while.” I stride from the room. “I’ll give Easton your regards.”
She shrieks my name at the top of her lungs as I descend the stairs and make my way outside.
I fucking hate hurting her. But she knows what I’m capable of. She knew what she was instigating when she went to him.
I stride to the Mercedes idling next to her car and climb into the passenger side.
“Is she still breathing?” Hunter mutters from behind the wheel.
