And of course, Emory was E. God, I was an idiot. This mountain had like five people on it. How dumb was I?
My brother and Drew tried to crowd around him but he stood up, finishing his coffee and slipping right past them and straightto me. With the mountains as his backdrop and in those low riding jeans, I was nearly salivating by the time he reached me and gave me a long kiss on the lips.
“I have to go to work for a little while, but I’ll pick you up at six for our date.” He turned to my nosey family. “Y’all have a good day.” And then he was gone inside. I imagined him upstairs slipping back into his clothes and I really wanted to follow him and undress him all over again but I didn’t want to deal with my brother’s shit.
The boys sat at the table smiling at me. “He’s gorgeous, isn’t he?” Drew whispered and I laughed when my brother punched him in the arm playfully. “But no one is as gorgeous as you, baby,” he corrected himself.
I giggled at their antics.
“Tell us everything,” my brother demanded.
And so I did. While I made them breakfast, I recounted the whole embarrassing story right from the no good, limping, non-walking so I had to carry his ass down the mountain, match-making dog to Emory asking me on a date.
Jason and Drew swooned at the end and I damn near did, too.
“God, I knew he would be an alpha in bed,” Drew said.
“Right?” my brother agreed. “He screams alpha mountain man.”
I nodded in agreement. But he was really sweet, too, and kind and loved animals. And was so damn fine. Ugh. I was a goner after one night.
“E’s a really good guy, Anna Bell. I think you should really give this a shot,” my brother encouraged.
Jax’s made a low gruff bark in agreement and I looked over at him rolled my eyes.
Damn matchmaking dog.
Still, I nodded “I think so, too.”
Who knew? Maybe Doctor Right Now was really Doctor Forever.
The End
