“That’s what she said,” he jokes.
“Cute. What made you want a house that could hold a family?”
He shifts, looking mildly uncomfortable. “I don’t know, to be honest. I was just going to go with one bedroom, but the contractor said I’d get more money with more rooms if I ever sold.”
There’s a part of me that hoped he’d say he wanted a family one day, and that’s why he built a house with so many rooms.
“You have to see the primary bathroom. It’s my pride and joy.”
I follow him into the room, ignoring the massive bed. He opens the door and I expect to be in the bathroom. What I don’t expect is to be standing in a closet that I’ve always dreamed about having. One side is for him. The other side is painfully bare. There’s a built-in shoe rack and shelves for handbags. A small sound escapes my mouth.
“Way to bury the lead. This closet is freaking everything!”
I move to one of my shelves, running my finger over the glossy cedar wood. I don’t have many bags, but I imagine what they would look like perched up here. It’s so unfair.
Tool leans against the doorframe, watching me.
“Didn’t know you’d get such a lady boner over a closet. Just wait until you see the bathroom.”
“This is going to be hard to top,” I warn.
“Then prepare to be stunned.”
He steps aside so I can enter the bathroom. Holy moly. He wasn’t kidding. This bathroom is amazing. For one thing, it’s the size of one of the guest rooms. There’s a large walk-in shower that looks like it could hold ten people. I touch the side of the claw-foot tub that sits in front of a floor to ceiling window. The view is of the lake, but feels more magical than the view downstairs, even with the storm raging on.
“I bet this view is heaven at sunset with a glass of red wine.”
“Can’t say that I’ve tried the wine before, but I’ll do it.”
“Now?”
“Why not?”
“Sure. I think I have a bottle of red wine. Not promising it’s worth a shit, though.”
“Do friends get naked and drink wine in a tub?”
He smirks. “One, I’ve already seen you naked. Two, why not?”
I mean, it’s hard to argue with logic like that. And I usually take a shower when I get back to the clubhouse, so this will save me a step, really.
“Okay. I’m in.”
He grins and has the sense not to say anything to make me change my mind.
“I’ll get the wine.”
He’s back before I can talk myself out of this, carrying two glasses and a bottle of wine.
“You can change in my room, and I’ll run the water.”
“Sounds good to me.”
My heart pounds as I undress in his room. His scent surrounds me, and I know I’m in danger.
“It’s just one night,” I whisper to myself. “I can be strong for one night.”
Padding naked to the bathroom, I stop in the doorway. The lights are off and there are candles everywhere. The tub is full of soapy water and Tool stands holding a glass of wine for me. I don’t miss the way his gaze trails slowly down my body, and my body responds. My nipples harden, as if they, too, have missed his gaze. And there’s definitely moisture between my legs.
