The corner of my mouth lifts upward. “I do try to keep my promises.”

She shakes her head at me. “You’re crazy.”

Before I can even open my mouth, she runs to me.

I open my arms, and before I know it, her body is knocking the air out of my lungs as she lunges at me, her arms wrapping around my neck. I lift her in the air as her mouth crashes down on mine.

Damn, if for nothing else, driving the last twelve hours through a snowstorm is one hundred percent worth it because of this very moment.

Placing her down on the ground, I dip her back as our kiss grows hungrier, putting all my frustration from the weeks of being apart into this one single kiss.

Callie lets out a moan, her lips parting. I nibble at her lower lip before dipping my tongue into her mouth and tangling it with mine. Her fingers slip around my waist, her body pressing against mine. Everything else falls into the background. There is just her and me and this moment, and everything is finally perfect.

Sheis perfect.

After what feels like forever, we break the kiss, both of us panting hard.

I pull Callie upright, and she buries her face into the crook of my neck, her arms tightening around me.

“I missed you so much.”

I soothe my hand down her back. “Me too, Angel. Me too.”

For a moment, we just stay like that. Callie in my arms, holding on tight, me clinging to her like she might disappear at any moment.

I’m not sure how long we stay like that, holding onto one another as thick snowflakes fall around us. Callie is the first to take a step back. She tilts her head, her eyes meeting mine. “Wanna go back inside? Yasmin, Alyssa, and Maddox are still there…”

Before she can even finish, I’m already shaking my head. “Let’s go for a walk. Just you and me?”

“A walk?” The look she gives me is completely incredulous. “You want to go for a walk?”

“Yes, a walk.” I slide my hand under her arm and lead her down the sidewalk. “C’mon, Angel. I won’t let you fall.”

“Fine.” Her eyes narrow at me. “I’m half tempted to think you did it on purpose.”

“What? Cornered you here so I could drag you around and make sure I’m the only reason you’re warm?”

“Something like that.”

She shakes her head, her eyes still glued on me. “I still can’t believe you’re here.”

I pull us to a stop and cup her cheeks. “I wouldn’t have missed it if I could help it.”

Callie leans her head to the side and smiles softly. “I know you wouldn’t.”

Pressing my lips against hers in a soft kiss before pulling back and sliding my hand around her, pulling her into my side.

For a while, we walk in silence, Callie’s hand around my waist, her head leaning against my chest. Reaching down, I press my mouth against the top of her head, that familiar flowery scent and plain Callie filling all of my senses.

God, it’s good to be home.

“You didn’t text, so I got worried,” she whispers so softly it’s barely audible.

“My phone died like an hour into the drive, and there wasn’t a charger in the car. Besides, it was worth it to see that look of surprise on your face.”

She tilts her head back, those blue eyes narrowing on me before she connects her elbow with my ribs. “Don’t tease me! I thought something happened to you!”

“Like what?”
