“Thanks, Big,” I say, squeezing back. “I guess now all we have to do is get out of here and maybe find you all some clothes.”
They all look down at their loin cloths with puzzled looks on their faces. Apparently they don’t see the problem with being so exposed, though how they have a full grasp of all the languages on the planet but not the concept of pants is beyond me.
Magic is straight up weird sometimes.
“You’re all hot as hell, but the Tarzan look is out and you need something a little more practical. Especially on the off chance any of you are seen by regular humans. I won’t be held responsible for poking out some eyeballs if they linger too long on you sexy assholes.”
When I move to redress and grab my backpack, I leave the guys to make sure we can open the door I came in through and start devising a plan of action in my head. Without the compulsion to seek out what was calling me to these ruins, I think I can clear my head enough to start making sense of things.
Now that I have most of my bonded mates back, I can honestly say I’ve never been so glad to be tempted by anything in my whole life. Not in this one or my last. I only hope that our future is everything I always hoped it would be back when we lived amongst the land of giants and magic. If only I could be a seer like Tanda, but even he never predicted the mess we’re all in because of him.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if we can bring him back to us and defeat the darkness in his heart, or if the guys will lean into their newfound hatred like Tanda, only to be consumed by it.
Does good always defeat bad? Does right always win over wrong? Will love win over hate?
We just won’t know until we know, you know?
