Inhaling a deep breath, I answered the call and quickly told him, “Hey, one sec.”
“Aight,” he agreed, and just the sound of his thick, husky voice had my pussy pulsing.
I cut the TV onSesame Streetand placed Trinity in her playpen so I would be able to focus fully on what Zo was about to say. Once I had her taken care of, I returned to the call with, “Hello?”
“Is now a bad time?”
“No. I just needed to get Trinity taken care of first. She’s an attention hog and would not let me talk on the phone if I kept her in my arms.”
Alonso chuckled. “She must have that honest. If I remember correctly, you liked being the center of attention, too.”
“Just when I was with you.”
His voice was low and deep when he said, “Don’t tell me that.”
My mind instantly took me back to nights when he was on top of me… inside of me… moaning and saying my name in my ear.
“So, what’s up?” I asked, needing anything to keep me from thinking about sex with him.
“Reka and I broke up.”
It wasn’t the first time, so I didn’t reply right away. “Again?”
Alonso chuckled. “For real this time. I left the house.”
“I’m sorry to hear that, Zo.”
“It’s cool. It was a long time coming.”
“Yeah, but y’all have been together for quite some time. I’m sure that had to hurt.”
He sighed into the phone. “We weren’t in love, so I’m good. I miss the familiarity, but that’s it. I can’t say one thing she gave me for me to miss other than being a good mother to my kids.”
“I would probably feel the same way if I left this house. Nick and I aren’t together anymore but…”
“What? Fuck you mean, y’all ain’t together anymore? If I knew you were single, I would havebeentried to snatch you back up.”
That got a soft laugh out of me as I paced. “We’re supposed to be talking about you, not me.”
“We can talk about both. I’m good. I just wanted you to hear my voice, so you’d be able to trust that.”
“I appreciate that, because I was definitely worried about you.”
“Yeah, I just know Reka. She’s been on social media, acting a fool since we broke up and I was trying to stay away from the negativity.”
“That’s understandable. Well… you have my number now, so…”
“You’ll be hearing from me. You were the only reason I was on Facebook daily, anyway.”
At the sound of Trin laughing and clapping, I looked to see what had her so happy, and it was the appearance of Cookie Monster. For whatever reason, her daddy got her hooked on receiving a small cookie crisp every time she saw Cookie Monster. She looked around, waiting for her daddy to pop up with her treat, and I couldn’t help but pout over how cute it was. Her little ass would suck the shit out of that cookie since she didn’t have any teeth in the back. Slob would run all down her chin and she was as happy as could be.
“Daddy isn’t here, Trin, but I’ll get your cookie crisp when I get off the phone, okay?” As if that wasn’t what she wanted to hear, her bottom lip immediately puckered and eyes watered. “Okay, princess. I’ll go get it now.”
“Just hit me up later, Bre.”
“No,” I whined before I could stop myself. “I want to talk to you.” At the sound of the garage letting up, I groaned and stomped my foot against the carpeted floor. “Nick’s here. I guess I will talk to you later. I don’t want him all in my business.”
“Aight, bae. Just hit me up.”
