“Did you call the cops?” he asked.

“Paris is taking care of it.”

Mick moved next to him. “Mind if I head on back to see if our lady made a capture?”

“Be my guest. We’ve got the lab covered.”

Mick left, and the rest of them waited patiently for the police to show up. It would be difficult to explain how they ended up there, but Rider was confident the police would just be happy to have found this place.

Rider hoped the police had a lot of support once the main shift showed up. No telling how many worked there.

Less than fifteen minutes later, Grayson entered with six Canadian Mounted Police. Rider and the others explained why they were there, but he wasn’t sure they totally understood.

Connolly stepped next to Rider. “We caught a fish.”

“Who?”

“Either my brother wouldn’t say or he doesn't know, but I’m about to find out.”

"Take one of these fine men with you.” He nodded to a policeman.

He smiled. “Will do.”

Paris could see what was going on, but those little cameras didn’t broadcast sound. Thankfully, Rider had told her what holding up his fingers meant. While she wasn’t sure what to say to the police, she’d called them and tried to explain.

It had taken a while to convince them that this wasn’t some prank call. Mentioning Richard Delancey’s name seemed to carry weight, however. In the end, they promised to check it out.

The fact that they’d found the lab would be enough to take down her father. She had the sense he’d claim he had no idea that lab was even there, but eventually, someone would say otherwise.

She was about to stop watching the show when Charley and Mick dragged into the lab none other than Doug Peterson. Paris sat up straighter. What was he doing there? Oh, wait a minute. Charley’s job was to watch in case someone escaped through the tunnel.

Never would Paris have thought it would be Doug! Why not exit the normal way? Had Delancey used his one phone call to warn Doug? That seemed doubtful.

Rider and Grayson were still speaking with the police. It appeared as if it might take them quite some time to finish. Since everything seemed under control, she called Jenna. Paris had so much to tell her.

Her friend answered right away. “Paris?”

“Yes, it’s me. I’m safe.”

“Oh, thank God. Tell me everything.”

Paris had just hungup with Jenna when the motel door opened, and she'd never seen a better sight. Both Grayson and Rider were grinning.

“You did it!” she exclaimed.

Grayson strode over to her, picked her up, and spun her around. “We all did it. If you hadn’t confronted your father, I doubt we’d have caught the son of a bitch.”

She doubted Rider would ever truly forgive her for pulling a stunt like that, and she couldn’t blame him. It had been reckless and quite foolish.

“Did you tell the general?” she asked.

Rider nodded. “I did. To say the least, he was very happy. We’ll need to send him the video of the takedown, but he said he’ll be transporting your father to Canada tomorrow.”

“I hope he has some guards with him.” Paris didn’t trust her father not to have something in mind with regards to escaping.
