Billie shook her head. She felt wrong, like she’d been watching him naked without his permission. Literally, if she clicked one more link, she’d see him naked without his permission. Fuck. No wonder he’d freaked out after they had sex… he probably wondered if she’d tell on him—either to her coworkers or the press.
Though she couldn’t have that much empathy for him. He’d made mistakes. And she wasn’t sure if she wanted to read the whole story involving Cressida. Sounded like their relationship ended really badly. She looked at the date on one of the links, and did the math. A few months.
She scanned a couple of articles, and concluded he broke up with her fairly recently.
Now the hiatus made sense. He’d taken some time off work and his sister had jumped in to help. Now, her hiring also made more sense. She had no idea who he was until today. Would that have changed her mind?

Frustration clogged her throat. She looked out the window, to the beautiful Sydney unveiling in front of her very eyes. When the driver entered the upscale gated community, she slid her phone in her purse.
She couldn’t jump to conclusions yet. So far, her internet sleuthing didn’t point to any physical abuse from either side. There was a DUI, that Cressida had received the night he broke up with her.
She could see how people quickly made him the villain in that story. Poor Cressida had an addiction, which smoothed her image to the public. And he? He was the son of a wealthy entrepreneur, and also a man who had been known for his wild ways in his youth, partying and slutting it up. Was he still a manwhore? Probably, but that was none of her business.
But one question kept nagging at her. Who, really, was Jack Harvey?
