“Whoever can fucking swim, get into that water now and get to her! She’s not going to be able to hold on any longer,” Dante snarls.

“Someone get to that fucking crane and bring her down,” Denis yells.

I’m rooted to the spot, unable to pull my gaze away from her.

“Where the fuck is Patrick?” Denis asks, but no one is looking for him. Everyone’s gaze is firmly on my woman.

Three of the men take off their jackets and shoes, and remove their guns from their holsters. But they’re too late. Destiny loses her grip, and the next thing I see is her hurtling through the air.

My knees buckle when she hits the water, and thank fuck for Mal holding onto me, otherwise I’d have hit the fucking ground.

“She’s not surfaced,” Danny says after a few moments. “Why the fuck hasn’t she surfaced?”

I hold my breath, waiting. The men are already swimming as fast as they can to where we last saw her.

This is too fucking much. Way too much for me to handle right now.

“God,” Makenna whispers. “They’re taking too long to get to her. She’s been under for too long.”

I can’t look at her, or anyone. I’ll see the fucking sorrow and pity in their eyes.

Where the hell is she?

I need her.

I fucking love her.

I can’t lose her.

She’s my fucking anchor.

Destiny

“You should have stayed out of this,” Patrick grunts as he holds me tightly.

My heartrate is beyond control. I’m still unable to breathe properly. Pain erupts with each breath I take. I’ve realized my leg’s broken, and I’m pretty sure a few of my ribs are too. My entire body is battered and bruised.

“You’d have been fine had you kept your fucking nose out,” he snaps at me.

“If I hadn't gotten the information, Finn would have found it out himself,” I tell him, my voice barely above a whisper at this stage. I’m too sore to do anything right now.

“By then, this would have all been over. You forced my hand, Destiny. Had you not interfered, things wouldn’t have gone down like this. But you made me do this.”

He’s so delusional. There’s no way he’s going to listen to anyone. He’s got a mission, and he will not stop until he does whatever the fuck he needs to. That means killing me.

“What happens next,” he begins, and I can hear the remorse in his words, “is your fault. Remember that, Destiny. If I hadn’t been told about the envelope and that my siblings knew about what I had planned, you could have survived. But unfortunately, that’s no longer an option.”

Bastard.

“Who—” I cough, and pain echoes throughout my body. My lungs and chest are burning. “Who told you about it?” Because whoever it was, they are the traitor.

He gives me a sinister grin. “If you weren’t dying, I wouldn’t tell you. But seeing as what I have planned next is going to be amazing to watch, I’ll fill you in on the secret.” His grin grows wider. He’s sadistic. “It’s always great to have family involved. I’m not the only one who lost out on becoming underboss thanks to that bitch.”

Cian. He’s talking about Cian. Fuck! Finn is going to be gutted when he learns that not just one of his brothers is doing this, but two of them.

He gingerly sets me on the ground, and I’m in such bad shape that I’m unable to do anything but lie here. “Sorry, Destiny, but this next part, you have to be unconscious for.”
