I give her a weak smile, my body sinking into the bed as darkness creeps up on me.
I’m happy that me and the women are getting along. They're an imposing sight. Every single one of them are gorgeous. Makenna is blonde and exudes sexuality and power. Melissa has long, luscious dark hair and has curves in all the right places. Drop dead gorgeous. Holly has amazing red hair and a sweet smile that screams innocence. I totally get her and Romero together. He is powerful and demands respect, but he’s extremely protective of Holly, which gives him a softer side. Callie has silver hair and porcelain skin. The paleness of her complexion makes her silvery eyes stand out, and they’re stunning. And then there is Raylee, her brunette hair streaked with blonde highlights. She has the most unique eyes that I have ever seen anyone have; they’re golden-brown.
I’m never one to be intimidated, but being around all these beautiful women is quite overwhelming.
“Sleep, Destiny. We’ll all be here when you wake up. We’re not leaving you,” Callie promises me.
God, what did I do to deserve to have them? I've never had people like them, and I’m not sure if I should trust it.
“Whatever’s on your mind, Destiny, just let it go right now. You need to rest and let your body recover.”
I’m not sure who said it because my eyes are already closed and my body drifting into the darkness that’s been calling me.
I just pray that Finn is okay. Killing someone you once loved is hard. I know; I toyed with the idea of killing my dad for so long. Ultimately, I knew it was the only way it could go. It takes a piece of you, and I hope Finn will be okay without those pieces.

Finn
“Don’t do this,” Pat begs me, as I move to the corner of the room, where I have my knife. “That bitch isn’t worth it. We’re family. Destiny Carter isn’t blood. She already knows your priority isn’t her. It’s Makenna, the woman who took your place.”
What the fuck is he talking about? Destinyismy priority. “You’re full of shit,” I tell him, not turning back to look at him. He’s just saying anything he can to worm his way out of this.
“She told me. They’re her words, brother. She said I targeted the one person you love most in this world. I thought she was talking about herself.” He chuckles humorlessly. “I should have known you weren’t that fucking stupid. According to the Carter whore, the most important person in your life is our sister. She was certain you’d never work against her, that you’d take everyone down who’s a threat to her.”
I grind my jaw. How the fuck does she not know that she’s my fucking everything?
“Jealous?” I retort, not letting him know his words have pissed me off.
He scoffs. “Jealous—of what? What the hell is it with you and that bitch saying that?”
I don’t need to ask who he’s referring to when he uses the word ‘bitch’. He has no fucking caution lights. None whatsoever. If he did, he’d watch his mouth. He’s just adding fuel to the fire.
I’m going to enjoy taking his tongue.
“Oh, Destiny hit a nerve, did she?” Granda says with a gleaming smile. “Tell me, boy, what did she say to you?”
“The cunt called me the runt of the pack. Said that Da didn’t trust me, and that I wasn’t good enough to follow in his footsteps but Makenna was because she’s got more balls than I do. She said it kills me to know Makenna has more respect than I could have ever wished for. She needs to watch her mouth. You never know when it’ll run her into trouble.” The anger in my brother’s voice lets everyone know just how hard Destiny’s words hit him.
“That Carter girl is the fucking bee’s knees,” Killian taunts him. “I mean, she didn’t fucking lie, did she?”
Dante chuckles. “No, not one word was a lie. Makenna does have more balls than you. She has the respect of every major player not only in the US, but in every fucking country in the world. That’s what this has always been about: you’re jealous.”
I pick up the knife and the shears, unsure of which to use just yet. I whistle as I walk back to him. Makenna’s got a smirk on her lips as she takes in the weapons in my hands.
“Ladies, first,” I say, and watch as she grins.
“Why, thank you,” she replies dryly.
She glares at Cian. “My husband really wants to kill you. I’m really proud of his restraint. If the tables were turned, I’m not sure I’d be able to keep from killing you myself. But he’s happy to sit back and watch.”
Dante lets out a grunt. He’s far from fucking happy about sitting back.
“Dante and I have spoken at length about how we’d kill the traitors. Usually, I’d slit the throat of those that aren’t loyal.” She reaches into her boot and pulls out a sharp knife. “Dante believes slitting your throat is letting you off too easily. Our da would be disgusted with the two of you. With the way you’ve behaved; your betrayal.”
Patrick snorts. “You? We betrayed you? You think you’re the fucking queen. You’re nothing but a whore, Makenna. You were married off just like the rest of the women in our world. You are nothing more than a transaction. You aren’t worthy of your position, and everyone knows it..”
“Wrong,” I hiss, and his jaw snaps closed. “It was fucking stupid. I’ve heard enough of your bullshit.”
