“Babe,” Dante says with a smirk, “you may want to shower and change first.”

She looks down at herself and sees she’s covered in blood. “Fuck, don’t leave without me.”

“Lis, baby, you too,” Danny says gently and she gives him a nod before following Makenna out of the room.

“I’ve got this,” Stefan tells us, “I’ll have the men clean it up. By the time you’re home from visiting with Holly, it’ll be cleaned.”

Dante gives him a chin lift and we follow him out of the room. “I need a fucking drink,” he announces.

“So,” Danny begins, once we’re in the kitchen, all of us have a glass of whiskey in our hands. “I knew you were fucking crazy, but snapping a man’s neck without breaking a sweat and not killing him…” he shakes his head, “Man, that’s fucking cold.”

I flip him off, the stupid ass.

“In all seriousness, though, where the fuck did you learn that? Paralyzing a man, that takes some skill.”

I down the whiskey, loving the burn as it makes its way down my throat. “Dude, you cannot talk. We just watched as your wife scalped someone. Where did she learn that shit?”

He grins. “She Googled it.”

I laugh, only in this fucking family is this conversation normal.

“This shit is not over,” Dante says as he glances around the room at us, “we’ll probably have both the Mexican’s and Russians after us now.”

Denis and Danny share a look, both of them shrug, not giving a fuck.

“Let them, we’ll take them out,” I vow, no one will ever have the chance to come after my wife. I’ll never allow what happened to her to happen again.

Fuck no.

I’ll take them out before they even think about doing it.

We manageto make it to the hospital without me killing anyone. Dante and Alessio have given Makenna a play by play of what happened with Jose Ortega. Of course, my bloodthirsty sister-in-law was riveted with each word they said and chuckled when she heard how I killed him.

As I step foot into Holly’s room, my heart stutters as I take in her tear stained face. “Doll face, what’s wrong?” I ask, my feet moving toward her.

“They took her,” she cries, “I couldn’t do anything, I can’t fucking move,” she snarls, “I had to watch as they took her.”

“Took who?” Makenna demands.

“Jade,” she huffs, “the fucking cops arrested her, Kenna.”

“Fuck,” Makenna clips out and pulls out her cell phone, “Liam, we’ve got a huge fucking problem…” she begins and walks out of the room.

That’s an understatement. There’s no way Jade will be able to get away with leaving the state and coming here.

I perch on the edge of her bed. “Don’t cry, baby,” I whisper as I brush the tears from her face. I wrap my arms around her and pull her close to me. “Your family will sort it out.” Even as I say the words, I don’t believe them. She killed someone and then absconded.

“Can I go home?” she asks as she rests her head against my shoulder.

My chest burns at her words. I want nothing more than to have her with me where I can protect her. “Let’s see what the doctor says.”

I press a kiss against her head. A settled feeling washes over me. Those that wanted to cause her harm are dead, she’s alive, and she’s okay.

I’m going to make sure she stays that way, no one is going to hurt her again.
