“I have no idea how or why I’m anHeir,” I say. “I just…”
“This is because of Seth too,” Birdie says. “You have total comfort with him.”
“I know I do,” I whisper. “And that’s crazy.”
“He kidnapped you,” Maz says.
“I don’t know what he did,” I say. “He took me, yeah. He didn’t hurt me. He was…”
“It was like a sexy fantasy thing,” Birdie says.
“No, it wasn’t that,” I say.
“You have feelings for him,” Maz says as she sits back down. “He’s your first love.”
“Yeah,” I confess.
“First everything,” Birdie says. “That’s a big deal.”
“Did you love the first person you were with?” I ask.
“Hell no,” Birdie says.
I look at Maz.
“Not even close,” Maz says.
“Wow. I guess I’m kind of lucky.”
“Or unlucky,” Birdie says. “You can’t let Seth go.”
“You think he’s hot too,” I say.
“Yeah, but I just want to fuck him,” Birdie says. “You want to marry him and have ten biker babies with him.”
“Never,” I say.
“Don’t say never,” Maz says.
I stand up.
The room sways a little.
“Okay, you two are being crazy right now,” I say. “I told you I’m not choosing anyone. As far as I’m concerned, I own them all. That’s why they don’t want me to know everything about myself.”
“There’s really a lot you don’t know yet, Jaci,” Maz says.
“You know what? I know this bomb threat bullshit is just that. It’s bullshit. This has to have something to do with Cullen and Archer. And Seth. And since I know that… I can go do whatever I want.”
“What are you talking about?” Birdie asks.
I don’t answer her question.
Instead, I go into the bedroom and put on fuzzy socks, comfortable shoes and grab my favorite hoodie.
When I come walking out of the bedroom, Birdie is shaking her head.
“You’re going to split?” Maz asks.
