“I’m not interested in food. I want to see Seth.”
“He’s busy.”
“I’m anHeir.”
“Try this,” he says. “It’s a ham and cheese crescent roll kind of thing. Except I cut them really small. So they’re bite sized. Like a snack.”
“I don’t think it’ll taste good with my coffee,” I say.
“You know it’ll taste good,” he says. “But I can get you something else to drink. Water? Whiskey?”
“You walk away and I’m going inside,” I warn.
“Doubt that,” another voice says.
Mattia appears from my right side.
He looks mean.
Ready for a fight.
“Is this a game?” I ask.
“Just have something to eat,” Laz says. “Don’t mind Mattia either. He’s pissed because he didn’t get laid last night. Hey, you could give him one. A freebie.”
“Excuse me?” I ask.
Laz laughs. “I’m just kidding. I don’t think Cullen would approve.”
“I wouldn’t approve,” I say. I look at Mattia. “No offense.”
“I wouldn’t touch you if they paid me,” Mattia says.
“Fuck you,” I growl. “I’d make you come in five seconds. You have no idea what my body can do.”
Mattia’s eyes grow wide.
“Damn,” Laz says. “You’re fired up, Jaci.”
“I am fired up!” I yell.
“Have something to eat,” he says.
I swipe one of his crescent creations off the plate and toss it into my mouth.
I bite down.
“They might be…”
My eyes grow wide.
“It’s hot!” I say in a muffled voice.
Laz looks at Mattia and nods.
Mattia grumbles under his breath and goes into the house.
I wave my hand at my mouth.
