And nothing else.
He just wants me to know he’s there.
Sometimes he slips an arm around me and side hugs me.
He flirts.
He’s charming.
I can see why girls like Maz and Birdie fall for him so easily.
The thing is - Cullen never takes advantage of that.
He makes me feel comfortable.
He makes me feel safe.
After my last class, he’s waiting for me.
He whistles and I see him at the side of the building.
I walk toward him, almost smiling.
Almost feeling fluttery in my stomach.
Or maybe I’m just hungry.
“Stellan’s class?” Cullen asks.
“Yup,” I say. “He’s way to excited about history.”
“Some people can’t let the past go,” Cullen says.
“He thinks history dictates the future,” I say. “Maybe he’s right. I really don’t care either way.”
“You don’t care about anything, do you?” Cullen asks.
I shrug my shoulders. “I don’t even know who I am.”
“You’re Jaci Ruby,” he says with a grin. “Why don’t you come up toMakson Ridgewith me, love? You should be with the rest of theHeirs.”
“I’m good where I am,” I say.
I like when Cullen pushes at me to come with him. I like denying him.
I like having a sense of power.
Cullen never argues and never pushes too hard.
He touches my cheek and nods. “You know if you need anything…”
“I know, Cullen. Thank you.”
“Have a good one, love,” he says.
He brushes his lips against my cheek and walks off.
I basically float back to the dorm.
