“You don’t do that nearly as much anymore. I like the confident you. It’s sexy.”

Violet cringed, looking down, her hair fell over her face.

“Don’t get embarrassed, it’s obvious that I find you sexy.”

“You’re not so bad yourself,” she smiled into the camera, warmth spreading over her. “I can’t wait till you get here.”

“Counting down two weeks.”

Violet picked up the phone and took it and her glass to the couch where she curled up.

“When I move back to Nashville you want to move in together?” he asked.

“Well, we practically lived together before, so, yeah, I’d like that.” And she missed him badly after he’d left.

Jill tore through the front door like the devil himself was behind her. “Have you seen the news?”

“No. What happened?”

“Melvin accepted a plea deal. There won’t be a trial. It’s over.”
