Lifting my head, I saw Savo leaning in the doorway. How long had that blasted ninja been standing there?

“Maybe next time you should make a sound or something, so we know you’re there,” I muttered.

Savo shrugged and sat at the end of the bed. “I felt her resting so I figured it was safe enough to come in.”

“My family warned me new bonds were demanding,” Marius commented. “Thank you for allowing us time with her when I’m sure it was tough on you.”

Savo just stared at Cambrie for a moment before speaking, as if he needed to soak in the sight of her. “I knew from the start she wasn’t just mine, you all found her first and protected her until I could get here.”

“Speaking of that,” Marius ventured. “I don’t want to assume your plans from here on out, but there is plenty of space in the house for you to join us if you wish.”

“I’ll be wherever she is, without question, but thank you for giving me the option,” Savo answered, meeting Marius’s gaze. “What’s next? Rick has Yoram’s pack, and you have the proof of Alton being poisoned, plus the knowledge that Cambrie was going to be sold to Shearia.”

Grabbing a pillow, I covered my junk as I sat up cross legged in the bed. “We’re missing something, there has to be a reason behind why it had to be Cambrie.”

“I agree,” Savo said with a nod. “If I had a secure computer, I might be able to do a little more digging than any of you could.”

Nixon exited the bathroom with a towel around his waist and was drying his hair with another until he spotted Savo. “Is there news?”

“Nothing new,” he answered. “I was just saying if I had a computer they couldn’t trace, I could see what more I might be able to learn. Our best option is for me to reach out to Rick and see if he can get one of the encrypted laptops to us.”

Cambrie started to stir so I reached out and petted her head until she settled. “Maybe we have the others switch out with us so you guys can talk elsewhere?”

The expression on Savo’s face looked like that idea pained him, but he nodded. He started to get up, but I grabbed his arm. “Wait, Savo if you need to be with her then stay. I didn’t mean to dismiss you from being here if you require time with her. Marius and I have to shower, so why don’t you stay? Nixon can reach out to Rick and tell him what you asked for.”

Relief was evident in Savo’s body language as his shoulders sagged. “That sounds like a good plan.”

“Now, close your eyes,” I ordered. Savo frowned in confusion. “Look, we’re friends but I don’t typically parade around in the nude for all to see. We’re new packmates to each other so give me a little time to adjust, will you?”

Savo chuckled and crawled up the bed and curled up with Cambrie, hiding his face in her hair. The second he started purring, I knew I was safe to get up. Marius caught my eye, his gaze full of mirth as I’m sure he could feel how uncomfortable I was at the moment. My Alpha just waved for me to follow him and I quickly sprinted across the room, only for Nixon to slap my ass as I passed.

“Run, boy, run,” he called after me, and I just flipped him the bird.Alphas.

Chapter 18

ThistimewhenIstretched after waking up from my nap, I felt a body shift with me and I knew instantly it was Savo. I could feel his contentment and happiness at having me in his arms through our bond. In the background though, I could sense something was bothering him. Not enough to take him away from me, but more so a lingering need that would be dealt with at some point.

“Did something happen?” I murmured as I turned to face him.

“Hmm?”

“I was asking if something happened while I was asleep,” I reiterated.

“No,Keksík, there isn’t anything you need to worry about,” he answered.

Frowning, I took my finger and booped him on the nose. “That isn’t what I meant, and you know it. Now that we’re bonded you can’t hide how you feel. There is something bothering you.”

Savo took a deep breath and let it out. “I don’t have enough information to figure out what’s bothering me. That's part of the problem, I suppose.”

Just as I was going to ask him something else, my stomach rumbled loudly. My cheeks flushed at the sound and I clutched my stomach. “Goodness, it makes it sound like I haven’t eaten in days.” I giggled.

Savo was already in action, scooping me out of the bed, and carrying me into the bathroom. “It’s time for you to get up anyways, almost a whole day asleep. We’ll never be able to get you to sleep tonight at this rate.”

Fisting my hands on my hips, I gave him a scolding look. “I’m not a child who needs to be put to bed, I’m more than capable of deciding that for myself.”

My Alpha cocked a brow at me, then caught my chin. “My sweet girl, I'm sure there is something we can do to entice you to come to bed.”

Heat trickled through my body at his words, and I knew he felt it as his eyes dilated and he took a deep breath. “No,Keksík, you need to shower and then eat. You are leaving this room and joining the others downstairs. While I love the idea of spending the rest of the day in bed with you, we have things to settle.”
