“This is your home now, Little One, you are free to enter any room you wish at any time. I know all of us will gladly welcome you into our space. Correction, we want you to be in our space whenever you feel like it,” Rafael informed me.

I frowned at him. “You can’t mean that, surely there will be time that you want to be alone.”

“I suppose in a rare situation that might be true, but I’m not certain that will apply toyou. See, to an Alpha, an Omega is an addition, and the bond only makes it stronger. I suppose it can be the same for a Beta if they are bonded to the same Alpha as the Omega. Things leak through the bond between all parties,” Rafael rambled on as I stepped into the room.

The space had light gray walls and was completely empty, not even a curtain over the window. Almost as if someone had been in this space then left, taking everything with it. “Was someone using this room before?”

“Oh, Oscar started out in this room but then about a month in moved upstairs with Bodhi. Those two are the night owls so I guess it makes sense, they can be up as late as they want on the third floor,” he answered. “My guess would be this is the room Savo will pick, but I could be wrong. He might have a secret love for yellow.”

A giggle burst out of me as I thought about Savo in that bright flowery room. For me it had been all wrong, but it was pretty, just maybe not for a man. We exited the room and headed the rest of the way down the hall and up to the third floor. Bodhi was already on the couch with Oscar next to him, arguing about what movies to add to the list for us to watch.

“No, I won’t takeShaun of The Deadoff the list,” Bodhi defended. “I know that humor isn’t for everyone but how is she going to know unless she tries it?”

Oscar clearly didn’t agree by his expression and the agitated movements of his hands.

“If she gets scared then we’ll turn it off,” Bodhi reasoned. “Oh, come on, you can’t seriously mean that?”

Curious and slightly worried about how heated things were getting, I felt like I needed to step in. “What are you arguing about over here?”

“Cambi, just the woman to settle the matter,” Bodhi greeted, his face instantly changing to a happier expression. “This list of movies we have keeps growing as we all add things to it. So far, we have it divided up into two categories, ones that we feel you can watch now and enjoy no problem and others that might scare or upset you. Scary movies are a huge category in general, and I was thinking of starting you off with a humorous scary movie when the time came. Oscar doesn’t think we should show you any scary movies, ever. If you ask me, it’s the bond talking and the fact that you were triggered earlier.”

Oscar’s hands flew a mile a minute and I couldn’t even attempt to guess what he was saying. Rafael and Bodhi understood it and seemed to have differing reactions.

“He’s not wrong, adding that sort of imagery to her imagination could make things worse,” Rafael said.

Bodhi glared at the older Alpha and crossed his arms. “Great, now I have you against me, so that means it will never happen.”

“Guys,” I yelled, instantly gaining their full attention. “This is stupid to argue over and you know I don’t like it when you all fight. Even though I’m learning that some conflict is good, I feel confident in saying that this argument is not one of those cases, and you’re all being stubborn.”

“You know, I think I’m beginning to like this new bossy side of our Little Dove,” Spencer interjected as he joined us. “Now, what are you three getting scolded for?”

Bodhi opened his mouth to answer but I cut him off. “Nothing we need to worry about now. We just got home after being apart for far too many days for my liking. All I want is to enjoy this moment of knowing my whole family will be safe at home where they belong. Now, I’m going to my room where I might read for a bit, if anyone would like to join me in relaxing, they may.”

Oscar signed something I didn’t have the first guess on, but the rest nodded in agreement.

“That’s it, tomorrow Oscar you and I are doing a crash course on signing. I hate the fact I can’t communicate with you properly and I feel silly asking someone what you just said,” I grumbled.

Arms wrapped around me from behind and I felt my bond to Nixon hum with delight at the contact. “He said, Spencer’s right, my Little Star is sexy when she gets bossy.”

I leaned my head back to look up at him. “Are you sure that’s what he said?”

“Would I lie to you?” Nixon questioned.

“No, but you would tease me,” I countered.

“No teasing here, Sweetheart,” he assured me and kissed me on the forehead. “That’s truly what he said and I have to agree with him. Maybe not about Spencer being right, but seeing a glimpse of the strong, confident woman you’re becoming is breathtaking.”

My cheeks flamed, and I nibbled on my lip.

“Little One,” Rafael warned, my Alpha’s command making me instantly stop.

Nixon gripped my chin and kissed me, sucking my lower lip into his mouth and licking it before he released me. “You’ll learn one day to be nice to your lips, but until then, it’s fun to remind you.”

Chapter 24

Bodhi,Rafael,Oscar, andmyself went to the grocery store after I learned they hadn’t been home most of the time I was gone, leaving the house with no usable food. With my father I’d been the one in charge of doing all of that, but the difference was I’d been given twenty to fifty dollars to buy enough to last for two weeks. The rest of the money Father earned went to buying his beer for home or out at the bar.

“Are you sure we need that much?” I asked when everyone just started throwing things into the cart. “Do you already know what you’re planning on making for the week or month?”
