“We can watch it later, and maybe you’ll have words by then,” I smirk.
“Wow, yeah, I forgot you did that.”
“My phone is completely secure. You don’t have to worry that anyone else will ever see it,” I assure her. “Do you want me to help you dress?”
“Shit, I have to walk after that?” She sits up, hurriedly covering herself.
“I’ll carry you if you need me to.” I have to adjust myself; it’s doubtful I’ll be able to walk straight or without pain.
“Ryker?” she asks, and I turn towards her. “That was incredible, thank you.”
I kiss her deeply. “You’re welcome. It was pretty good from my side, too.”
I drive out of the parking lot, back on the road when she is covered. I hand her panties. “Put these on too.”
She hastily slides them back in place as we pull up to the curb of the club.
“Where are we? This isn’t the club.” She looks around.
“This is a club. Not mine. It’s the West brothers’.”
“Who?” she frowns.
“Harmony’s mates,” I explained.
“Why are we here?”
“Well, we have to go back to my club. I don’t want you fuck it up. Blood all over.” I shutter dramatically. “Here, if you fuck up and kill someone, we don’t have to come back.” I smile and get out of the car to open her door.
“Ryker,” she says, shaking her head. “I won’t kill anyone. Besides, aren’t Harmony’s mates going to be mad that we came here for my first night as a vampire?”
“I called ahead. Harmony is excited to see you. The brothers are tolerant of whatever she wants.” I shrug and lead her to the door. We bypass the line of eager partiers. I want to talk to the panthers about the shit-storm that is circling us and can’t be far from her right now. Leaving her home isn’t an option until I find the security guard and kill him slowly for allowing Tom in the building. Jax is waiting just inside with his arms crossed.
“Do not make me regret this,” he warns.
“Never, she will be on her best behavior,” I say and try to look innocent.
“I’m not worried about her,” he glares. “Serenity, you make vampires look good.” He grins charmingly.
“Thanks, Jax. I hope this is alright. I didn’t know we were coming here tonight.” She bites her lip anxiously.
“No worries. Harmony has a VIP room ready for you. All of us will be joining you,” Jax says. He motions for us to follow through the crowd.
Serenity clings to my arm, pressing close. I can imagine the urge to drink is strong. The new sights and many sounds running through her ears will be challenging for her. She was determined to go without the earplugs for the night, claiming the need to get used to the noise. I move us quickly behind Jax. It will be a bit easier in the room they have for us, containing just a few heartbeats. If I remember correctly, they recently had them soundproofed. I’ll have to thank Harmony for her thoughtfulness. Probably her mates too. I hate to admit to being wrong about anything.
I look to my side. “Are you doing alright?” I ask her.
She swallows thickly. “Sure,” she says, her eyes wide with worry.
“If you need blood, use me,” I offer.
She nods but is distracted. Her attention is on the crowd. Her white eyes scanned quickly with every pulse. I secure her, tightening my arm around her.
Jax takes us up to the second floor and down a hallway. He opens the first door and welcomes us inside.
Harmony squeals and jumps from the couch, probably loud enough to make Serenity’s ears bleed, and marches towards us, determined. Blue looks at Serenity, examining the changes to my mate, and gives me a smirk. James is sitting across from Blue. His indulgent grin is aimed at Harmony and not my mate.
Jax slaps me on the back. “Drink?” he asks.
