“Yeah, well, when I have to tell her Penny is with that bitch, I will do everything I can to stop her from ripping your throat out,” I promise before disconnecting.

I am staring down at my phone when James walks up to me.

“Dude, Blue is doing everything he can to distract Harmony from coming to find you. She is acting weird, rubbing her chest.”

“We have to get back to the house, now.”

His demeanor changes when he sees my face.

“What’s going on?”

“Penny was taken. We have to get back behind our gates, so she is contained when I tell her.” I explain, not waiting for him to catch up, I move to the house just as Blue and Harmony come out. “Let’s get back.”

“Jax, are you alright?” Her brow is furrowed, studying me intently.

“I’ll explain back at the house.” I move to the car quickly, silently motioning for James to come with us.

Blue doesn’t question me, jogging to his car and leading us out. She keeps silent as we speed home, but I feel the fearful looks she keeps shooting me the whole way home.

I feel slightly better when the gates close behind us. I need her locked in. I have to have her as contained as possible. Even if she shifts, we can corner her on the property if she makes it out of the locked house with closed doors. If she stays in her human form, I’m pretty sure we can control her with the three of us. I hope.

“Okay. You are freaking me out, Jax. What is going on?” She demands once we are in the house.

Instead of answering right away, I moved to the security panel and put in the codes to lock us in. Turning to her, I get as close as I can without standing on top of her and hold both of her hands.

“Stephan called me. He was with Penny today. He got a text from someone who he thought was me telling him to get back to the club.”

She stiffens her nails, biting into my hands.

I continue, “He left her there. Fake me told him that I had someone else coming. She’s missing. Cindy took her.”

Harmony’s eyes glaze over. The rage I felt is nothing compared to massive amounts of hate and anger shooting from her. I tighten my grip, her claws elongating further and ripping into my hands. I hold my flinch in. The wounds will heal. I know she is fighting the shift. Her panther bleeds through her eyes. “That bitch took her?” She grits out through clenched teeth, her speech garbled because of her cat trying to take over.

“She was. Stephan searched everywhere. He went back and knew for sure. He smelled Cindy’s scent all over, along with the man helping her.” The guys move in close behind her, forming a triangle around her, ready for whatever move she makes.

“That bitch has my sister?” she repeats, probably hoping she misheard—her skin ripples with the need to shed her human form.

“We will find her. You need to stay calm,” I urge, trying to be the voice of reason.

“You fucking stay calm. She took my sister. That bitch will die a bloody, slow death by my panther's claws,” she growls.

Okay, that approach isn’t going to work.

But is it an inappropriate time to get turned on?

“Listen to me. You being angry right now won’t bring her back. You need to keep it together. We need to plan. When we do find them, that is the time to be angry. I will gladly hold her down while you slash your way through her throat. But right now, we need to be smart.” My words infused with my Alpha power, relieved I can feel some of the tension leaving her body.

“You will keep your promise, mate. When she is in front of me, she is mine to deal with. I will kill her. Any little bit of sympathy I had for her is gone. Whatever she does to Penny, I will do to her but so much worse. When she dared to take my sister, she welcomed her death.” She yanks her hands from mine, leaving deep gashes through my hands. She’s too panicked to notice the blood dripping to the floor. “You find her. You find her and take me to her, Alpha.” She glares at me and runs up the stairs to her room in a blur. The door slams so hard I will be surprised if it didn’t splinter in half.

James gasps when he notices my hands, carefully holding them up for him to inspect.

“They’ll heal.” I pull away and move to the sink to contain the blood.

“She’s going to hate herself when she realizes what she did,” James says sadly while he wipes the blood off the floor.

“Well, by the time she does, the cuts will be healed,” I assure him.

“What now?” James fidgets behind me.
