Next, I take Beckett to his fire engine room, where he gets overwhelmed by everything. Giggling like crazy, he wants me to play with his toys.

Of course, Brooklyn thinks she’s getting left out and starts crying. Rosemary stays with Beckett while Woodrow watches Beau. I take my crying little girl to her room, where she smiles at me.

“Ladybug.”

“You love ladybugs,” I say, both weirded out and touched by how Silas knows that information. “That’s your name.”

Brooklyn has me spell out the red letters on her wall. I smile at how she settles down when she sees dolls still in their packages.

“Why don’t we stay here for a while?” Woodrow says from the doorway. “Let them settle in while you use one of these beds to rest.”

I hear the real meaning behind his suggestion. Woodrow and Rosemary work for Silas. The large, rich biker made clear how he wants me to stay off my feet.

In this beautiful house, Silas calls the shots. If watching my kids play is the cost of remaining in his good graces, I consider myself a lucky woman.

SILAS

The Copper house isa metal-siding box next to the highway. Until last night, I’d never stepped inside. Not that I didn’t consider breaking in when everyone was out. Except I didn’t know if Neal Copper had surveillance in his home, allowing him to spy on his family when he was out of town.

I’m considering the asshole’s final moments when my president’s black truck rolls up to the house. Hoyt “Ruin” Macready was a golden child back in high school. He could have left us rougher fucks behind while he played the jock role. Yet, he had a taste for fighting, cheap booze, and rowdy women. While he still likes to throw down, his choice of liquor and women has definitely gotten refined.

I don’t meet Ruin at his four-door truck or react to his arrival. I barely roll my eyes when he pulls out a step stool to help his assistant turned girlfriend exit the truck.

Selene reaches up to fix his shaggy blond hair. They share a little horny moment while I struggle not to roll my eyes.

Joining Ruin and Selene is her younger sister and my president’s newest assistant. The guy’s gotten highfalutin since becoming McMurdo Valley’s mayor.

Normally, I don’t give a shit about Ruin’s business. Except now he’s sniffing around mine.

“What’s all this?” I ask, gesturing at the women. “I thought the new one worked in your office.”

“Yazmin is here to help Selene,” Hoyt explains as his blue eyes scan the area. “They’ll do the organizing. The Jordans will handle the heavy lifting.”

I glance at the club’s former enemies turned henchmen, now exiting two run-down trucks. I’m not sure how I feel about those fucks touching Landry’s shit.

“What will you do?” I ask Hoyt, knowing he’s still got unhealed holes in his body from a recent shooting.
