All because this is what’s best for the cartel.
Fuck the Muertos Cartel.

Something compelled me to wait for her as soon as I closed the doors.
Maybe it was the look that came across her face when she first entered the room. Or maybe it was how her body tensed up when Ronaldo dismissed me.
Whatever it was, I stayed. And now I’m on pins and needles waiting for the door to open and for her to come out.
I was called into Ronaldo’s office earlier by the man himself. He wanted to see how things were going with a few dealers in Austin. Nothing out of the ordinary. But then of course there was a knock on the door and in walked Emilio and his father.
The second he met my murderous stare he gave me a smirk that I wanted to punch off him. Killing him was the next best option.
Ronaldo must have noticed how tense I got when the Castros made their appearance because within seconds, he dismissed me to go get Isabella.
Once again, I was sent away to escort the princess into the office, and much like last time the princess hates my guts.
I’ve been keeping my distance from her. Not because I wanted to, but because if I was around her I would have done something stupid. Like possibly getting her killed if Emilio doesn’t marry her. I wouldn’t put it past the Castro family to retaliate if something happened to him. So, the best way to keep Isabella safe is to stay away from her.
Especially given the information that Elliot was able to find out on Emilio.
Looks like the blood prince to the Castro cartel is in deep with some money issues. So deep that he started to use the cartel money and stopped paying for the merchandise that the Castros were getting from Belize. And when you don’t pay for your product, people start coming after you.
According to Elliot the fucker probably made a deal with someone wealthy to take down a member of the Muertos to be able to pay for his debts. He just wasn’t able to find out who exactly.
I have a theory but until I have more information, I will not say anything.
Right now, I have to concentrate on finding a way to take down Emilio and stop this fucking marriage from happening.
Maybe it’s time to get Leo involved.
Just as I’m thinking of how to tell Leo about the dirt that I have on Emilio, the door to Ronaldo’s office opens up.
My eyes land on her right away. They scan her whole body, check to see if there is anything that will have me bursting through the door and killing anyone that laid a hand on her, but I see a thing.
The only thing that grabs my attention is the redness of her eyes. She’s angry, on the brink of tears trying to hold all her emotions in.
I want to instantly go to her, but I hold myself off. Wrapping my arms around her and consoling her will not be a good idea especially when her father is on the other side of the door.
She doesn’t notice me at first, she just looks ahead at the living space in front of her, not really paying attention to her surroundings.
It’s when I clear my throat that she notices that I’m there.
Instantly, her defense goes up. There’s my stubborn, resilient girl. “Why are you still here?”
I shrug. “I figured I brought you over here, might as well walk you back.” I want to make sure you’re okay.
“I don’t need an escort in my own house.” There’s a bite to her tone and she starts walking towards her wing, bumping me in the shoulder with a little too much force along the way.
“Your father seems to think so.” She turns to face me, anger radiating off her more than it was a few seconds ago.
“I don’t give a shit what my father thinks.” Finger stab to the chest. “I can walk through my own house.” Another stab. “I don’t need you to walk me anywhere.” Stab. Stab. Stab. “I don’t fucking need you for anything.”
I grab her by the wrist and stop the assault that her finger is doing to my chest.
“That last part is a fucking lie.” I growl through my teeth.
