He has every single right to call a meeting with his father, and we need to figure everything out. But I can’t help but wonder, if the last meeting Leo called with his father didn’t work, what makes him think that this one will?

“While you’re at it, you should call that other meeting too. I know that I said to take some time, but I think we need to get the ball rolling before it’s too late.

I can see from my peripheral that Leo turns to look at me, but I keep my eyes straight ahead on his sister.

Maybe this whole day has made me go crazy.

Maybe the blows I received from Ronaldo gave me brain damage.

Whatever it is, it’s time to talk to Madden and get Ronaldo behind bars sooner rather than later.

“I’ll make the call.” Leo stands up from his seat and starts to go back to the other side of the plane.

He’s at the curtain when he turns around and looks at Isabella.

“Take care of her, would ya?” he says with concern in his voice.

I nod even if his back is to me.

“Always.”

He gives me a nod and goes back to the other side of the curtain.

For the rest of the flight, I watch Isabella sleep. She looks peaceful the whole time that it kills me that I have to wake her when we land in Austin and disembark.

“Want to come back to my apartment?” I offer when we are in a car, while Serena and Leo are in another.

All Isabella does is nod and leans her head on my shoulder as we make the drive over to my place.

The place that she spent almost every single night in for year.

When we get to the apartment, Isabella jumps straight into the shower, and I make some canned soup for her to eat.

Yes, it’s June but soup is comforting, and canned shit is all I have.

I warm up the soup and when I head to the bedroom, I find Isabella already in the bed all curled up under the sheets.

Seeing her in my bed like this does something to me and I have to take a quick second to refocus.

The last time she was in my bed at all was right before she headed to San Pedro to stay at her father’s estate before the engagement was announced.

It’s been almost a whole year since.

Crazy to think where we were last year at this time and how things changed so rapidly.

“I made you soup.” I announce into the room and instantly her eyes pop open.

I make my way over to her while she sits up. She takes the soup from me and starts to eat it right away, while I settle on the edge of the bed watching her.

“Bella, we need to talk about things.”

She looks up at me from under her lashes all the while her spoon is in the air.

I see my word mule through her head and finally she nods, putting her spoon down.

“Is he dead?” Her eyes are on the bowl in her lap and not on me.

“I have no idea. I sent a message to a few of our men while I was in the kitchen but as of right now, I don’t know.” I hope he is.
