“You are done. You are no longer a part of the Muertos Cartel.”

“Yes, he is.”

It’s the first time that my brother speaks. We all turn to him, even my father to see what he means. My brother is second in command of the cartel, but I have never heard him go against my father’s word like this.

“I told you that this was going to happen, papà.” Leo let’s my father go and goes to stand next to his best friend, his brother.

“If I remember correctly, we had a conversation in your office when you sent Emilio after my wife. And I told you that I would do everything in my power to stop this marriage, and I didn’t give a shit what you lost. Looks like I was able to keep my promise and guess what, I still don’t give a shit.”

Leo and Santos stand as a united front against my father.

“You two must have forgotten who still runs this cartel, and I will run it until I’m in my grave. Try to take me down, but you will fail.” My father spits, before readjusting his suit. “You are a disgrace. Both of you.”

“Disgrace or not, this cartel will be mine. My previous statement still stands. You’re dead to me, and we both will only deal with you when absolutely necessary.” Leo squares his shoulders and looks our father straight in the eye.

I don’t know how long this last, but it does until my father gives one final growl and turns to leave the room.

“Vamos Isabella y Camila.”

What?

He wants us to go with him.

“No. I’m not going,” I stand my ground, finally standing up to my father. Something that I should have had the courage to do a very long time ago.

His nostrils flare at my statement but he doesn't say anything, instead he looks at my sister.

“Vamonos Camila.” He orders her, but Camila stays in her place not moving an inch closer to him. She looks at him with fearful eyes and arms wrapped around herself, shaking her head.

“No. I don’t want to.” The fear is clear in her voice as she cowers deeper into herself.

“I don’t have time for your bullshit, Camila! You will come with me. I can’t have your siblings corrupt you anymore than they already have.”

He stalks over to her and grabs her arm and starts to drag her out of the room.

“Papí, no. I don’t want to go. Let me stay.” Camila begs and everything in me is breaking.

“Let her go.” Leo growls and stalks over to them and tries to pry my father’s arm off our sister.

“You don’t get to tell me what to do. She’s my daughter and she will listen to me and listen to what I tell her to do.”

Our father yanks Camila closer to him. Tears are running down her cheeks.

“Okay.” I say to him. We’ve been through enough today, and we don’t need to continue to add to it.

“Bella.” My sister cries out.

Swallowing down my own lump, I go to my sister and wrap her in a tight hug.

“I will get you out of his house. I promise.” I whisper in her ear before I lean back and give her a kiss on the cheek.

She gives me a tearful nod and soon she is getting dragged out of the room by our father.

This is definitely not how I thought this day would go.

Emilio was shot by Santos.

And then Camila was dragged away by our father.
