I smile and he lifts my fingers to his mouth, looking up when Veronica walks over to stand in front of us. Her brows dip and she bounces her eyes between me and my brother, her confusion written all over her face while she stares at our joined hands. I swallow and shrink away from her, but I don’t move, terrified she’s about to find the knife and the burner phone stashed in Kade’s jacket beneath my head.
“Boys…” she starts, opening her mouth just to snap it shut again. “Your mom—”
“Isn’t here,” Kade finishes for her, locking his jaw as he speaks through his teeth. “Don’t talk shit about something you know nothing about.”
She blinks at him and twists her lips from side to side, thankfully dropping it while she shoves her hands into her pockets. “Are you leaving?”
We don’t answer that.
She sighs heavily and backs away from us, smiling sadly before she follows the rest of her colleagues to the door. I can tell she wants to say more, but we’re both eighteen and free to do whatever we want, and she knows there’s nothing she can do to stop us.
“Just… tell me one thing.”
“What?”
“How long have you been, you know…”
“Fucking,” Kade offers, smirking when he catches the look on her face, taunting her with his eyes while he kisses each of my knuckles. “You wanna know if my baby brother was legal the first time I fucked him?”
“Jesus,” she mutters, her lip curling as she fights to control her features. “Do I even want to know?”
“Get out, Veronica.”
She rolls her eyes at that, and then she’s gone. The front door closes behind her and I relax a little more, whining when Kade moves out from under me to help me up to my feet. He locks every door and window there is, then he takes me upstairs and wraps his arms around me from behind, staying just like that while I pull my dick out to take a piss, the weirdo.
“You know I can—”
“No.”
I chuckle and shake my head at him, ignoring the sight of my own reflection while I shuffle along to wash my hands at the bathroom counter. Once I’m done, he sets me down on the edge of his bed and grabs a couple duffel bags from his closet, tossing his clothes inside before he reaches up to the top shelf. He finds the pile of cash he’s been saving for two years and shoves it into one of the side pockets, then he disappears for a few seconds and comes back with his arms full of my hoodies and a bunch of other shit. I pick up one of the photos on the bed and run my finger over my mom’s face, smiling to myself when I catch him tossing my eyeliner into his bag.
“Can I have that for a second?”
His eyes hit mine and he passes it to me, watching me closely while I use the camera on my phone to put it on. It’s not perfect, but I’m tired as shit and this is the best I can do. I blink up at him and he licks his lips, carefully leaning over me to take my face in his hands.
“So fucking beautiful,” he praises, and then he kisses me, hungry and deep as if he can’t get enough.
I moan and open my mouth for him, whining again when he pulls away from me and gets back to work.
“Asshole.”
He smirks and quickly finishes packing, then he takes me down to the truck and lifts me up to the passenger side. I shiver all over and he climbs up to sit beside me, pulling my seatbelt over my chest before he wraps me up in a fluffy throw blanket. My lips split into a grin and I look out through the windshield, my face falling when I spot Skully walking towards us with his head down low and his hands shoved into the pockets of his coat.
“What’s he doing here?”
“I asked him to come.”
“What? Why?”
“Because you need more drugs,” he explains, hopping down to meet him next to the driver’s side.
Skully tries to bump his fist and frowns when Kade ignores the gesture, his eyes widening when he gets a look at me. “Fucking hell, Nicky—”
“Don’t look at him,” Kade cuts in, tossing some cash into his hand before he takes what he’s paying for.
Skully looks away and Kade lifts the bag up to his eye level, checking it for a second before he takes one of the pills out. He passes it over and Skully scoffs, looking a little taken aback when he realizes what he wants.
“What, man, you don’t trust me now?”
