Wren laughs lightly, bumping his fist. “Deal.”
“Wait a minute.” I start, pulling my brows in when Kai snatches my hand to drag me back to the island. “This is stupid-”
“Quit bein’ a little brat.” They say together, ripping their shirts off in perfect synchrony before hitting me with their matching grins.
Damon groans. “Don’t do it-”
“Do what, brother?” They say together, smirking. “This? Why? You don’t like it? He doesn’t like it.”
My jaw hits the floor. “Whoa.”
“She likes it.”
Damon growls and comes up behind me, pressing his chest to my back to cover my eyes with his hand. He grips my waist with the other and I jolt, tipping my head back on his shoulder when he teases my neck with his mouth. He nips the skin with his teeth and I swallow a moan, digging my nails into his wrist when he slides his hand over my stomach to cup my pussy over my shorts.
“Open.”
I’m about half a second from opening my legs for him, but then I realize he’s talking about my eyes.
“Real funny.” I go for deadpan, but there’s no hiding the heat in my tone.
His mouth forms a dirty little smirk on my neck and I lick my lips, bouncing my eyes between the boys opposite. I grab their car keys from the side and slide the yellow one to Kai and the orange one to Wren, grinning when his brows jump in surprise.
Kai laughs at him, snatching his cash. “Told ya.”
“How are you doing that?”
“Magic.” I wiggle my brows, rolling my lips when Wren cocks his head, not letting it go. “You want the truth?”
They nod.
“It’s the look in your eyes.” I explain, tipping my chin at Kai. “You cover your pain by pretending to be an asshole with your jokes and your humor and you constantly look at me like you wanna rip my clothes off.”
He smirks at that, unashamed.
“And you cover yours by getting high until you can’t feel it, pretending you don’t give a fuck when I know you do, you just hide it better than most.”
Wren frowns at that, tipping his chin at the brother behind me. “And Damon?”
“Anger.”
Silence.
“You wanted the truth.” I shrug, sipping my coffee. “Not my fault it hurts.”
Wren hides a grin and Kai steps closer, eyeing me while he throws his t-shirt back on. “Funny.” He muses, pressing his lips to my cheek. “Because you do all of the above and then some to cover yours.”
I tense.
“We see right through you, too, Callie.” Wren teases, kissing my other cheek. “Whether you like it or not.”
The two of them leave to wait by the elevator and Damon spins me to face him, backing me up into the counter with his eyes on mine. He lifts me up by my waist and drops my ass on the edge to level with me, and I don’t miss the way he’s perked up a bit since he walked down the stairs five minutes ago. My legs open without permission and he takes the invitation, moving in to wrap them around his hips.
“Why you up so early?”
“I had a headache.”
“You better now?”
