She eyes me and I stare openly, allowing her a little peek inside my head. She takes what I give her, and I swear to god she looks proud.
“You were going to kill him.”
“On my eighteenth birthday.” I nod, smirking when she does. “Even had the perfect location and an alibi lined up.”
She drops her fork and falls back in her seat, the scraps of her chicken salad forgotten. Just when she opens her mouth to give me what I'm here for, her fake persona falls back into place and she smiles, looking at something over my shoulder.
Fuck, I had her.
“Derek, honey.” She coos, grinning when the sleaze himself steps up beside us. “What are you doing here?”
I lock my jaw, tossing my burger down on my plate because this is just fucking perfect.
“I was just having a drink at the bar and spotted you on my way out.” He grins back, sliding his dark brown eyes over to mine. “Hi.”
“Callie, this is Derek, Elijah's nephew. Derek, this is my daughter, Callie.”
“Your daughter?” He raises a brow, not looking at all surprised by that.
Just then, Katherine's phone buzzes in her purse and she takes it out, frowning at the screen. “Excuse me a moment.”
I roll my eyes when she gets up and leaves to take her call, leaning back in my seat to look up at the guy standing beside me. He's wearing dark jeans and a black button down with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, his dark brown hair cut similar to Damon’s but neater around the edges. He's hot, I'll give him that, but he's also a lowlife creep. I have no love or respect for him whatsoever.
“I heard about that little stunt you pulled on my guys the other night.” He informs me, leaning his ass back on the table. “That wasn’t very nice, Callie.”
“I’m not a nice person, Derek.”
He smirks at that, slowly moving his eyes over my body. Then he steps closer and places both hands on the back of my chair, leaning over me to speak in my ear.
“Kingston money looks damn good on you, girl. I bet it’ll look even better on the floor of my pool.”
“You sure did.”
He laughs lightly, running his nose over my skin. “You're a mouthy little thing, aren't you? I bet they just love having you around.”
I roll my eyes and shove him off me, locking my jaw when he doesn’t back up. “Go find another to play with, Derek. I'm not the one.”
He groans at that, nipping my earlobe. “Baby, you have no fucking idea how wrong you are.”
I pull my head away, not missing the curious look in Katherine's eyes while she walks back over to us. She makes no move to stop him from eating my ear out, though. Does she know this guy fucked Wren's girlfriend and broke his already broken heart? Probably. Does she care? Absolutely fucking not.
“I'm so sorry, honey, I have to go.” She fakes a pout, grabbing her purse from the table. “They'll charge the family account so you're welcome to stay and have a drink if you want. Have a good night. I'll see you tomorrow.”
I glare at the back of her head while she walks away without a backward glance, unsure whether she was speaking to me or him. Derek still hasn’t moved so I grab my shit and stand to leave, locking my jaw when he snatches my arm to stop me.
“Come have a drink with me, Callie.”
“No.”
He grins, amused by me and my reaction to him. “Did my baby cousins tell you to say that or did you come up with it all on your own?”
“Again with the baby cousins?” I raise a brow, pulling my arm from his grip. “You really can't stand the fact they're bigger and badder than you, can you?”
His nostrils flare and I smirk, backing away when he advances on me.“Where do you think you're going?”
“I'm not the one.” I repeat, slower this time. “Don't come by me again.”
“Or what?” He cocks his head, still fucking coming for me. “You'll tell your stepbrothers-”
