Chapter 6

Damon

She's not what we expected.

Not even a little bit.

Here we were, expecting a broke, broken hearted little girl from the dumps of Sin City with a deadbeat Mom and a literal dead Dad.

We were fuckin’ wrong.

She's got a backbone, something we're not used to when it comes to pussy. She doesn't do a damn thing she's told, she doesn't respond well to threats, and she sure as shit isn't afraid of us, meaning she's got a bigger pair of balls on her than any other motherfucker in this city. I can't decide whether she genuinely has no fucks to give in regards to her pathetic little life or if she's just plain fucking stupid.

Fucking sexy, though.

Thick, dark chocolate colored hair cut just below the curve of her spine, magnetic hazel eyes you could easily get lost if you look too hard, a sexy little metal ring circling her pouty bottom lip and a killer body that could bring any grown ass man to his knees.

It's more than all that, though. She's not fake or full of plastic like the girls we're used to. She wears whatever the hell she wants and doesn't give a fuck what people think of her.

She's fucking real.

“She had no fuckin' idea who he was.”

I slide my eyes to Wren from my seat on the balcony, working my jaw when I catch him staring at her. She's sitting on her own couch three rooms over with her headphones on, lightly bopping her head with a lit joint between her lips, completely oblivious to the fact she's being watched.

That girl could give Wren a run for his money with the amount of weed she smokes.

She's numbing the pain, same way he does.

“She's legit, boys.” He goes on, still fucking staring at her.

“You don't know that.” I shake my head, snatching another beer from the ice bucket on the floor by his feet.

She's playing a game.

She has to be.

No seventeen year old girl I know turns down fifty grand cash and an eighty grand car out of pride and pride alone.

She's smarter than she looks.

Greed and manipulation runs through her fucking veins. Seven years ago, her evil bitch of a mother wormed her way into our family and set out to ruin our lives, same thing her daughter will do if we fall for her little act.

She's just like her mother, and the funny thing is, I almost believe all that.

Almost.

I lean back and look over at her again, struggling to make sense of this entire fucked up situation we've found ourselves in.

Why is she even here?

Katherine never mentioned her once. None of us even knew she existed until she showed up here four days ago. It’s clear she doesn't give a shit whether her daughter lives or dies, so why didn't she leave her fine ass to rot in the system and be done with it?

“I'm telling you, man. I was watching her when you had her over your shoulder. That girl had no idea whose house she was at tonight.”

“Why you stickin' up for her so hard?” Kai jokes, tossing a beer cap at his head. “You hard for her, brother?”

Wren snorts, tossing it back. “Fuck off.”
