“Don’t be.” I whisper back, leaning my head on his shoulder.
Kai wipes his eyes and drops his head back on my lap, looking up at me. “If the sick fuck who hurt you wasn't dead already, I'd kill him.”
“I thought you were too hot to go to jail.” I tease, running my good hand through his hair.
“I'd get fucked in the ass any day for you, baby girl.”
“Yeah, me too.” Wren adds, dropping his eyes to hide a half grin.
I laugh through my tears, tipping my head back on Damon’s shoulder to look at him. He slides his hand over my cheek and I drops his forehead on mine, damn near falling apart at the seams.
“I’m sorry about your mirror.”
He manages a shaky laugh, shaking his head at me. “I fucking love you.”
I roll my lips, hiding my face in his chest because damn, he makes me feel all tingly and shit when he says that.
“Did you just blush?”
“If you ever say that to me again, I’ll kick you in the dick so hard you won’t be using it till you’re forty.”
Kai laughs at me, faking a groan when I punch his abs. “Ow, bitch.”
“Pussy.”
“Speakin’ of pussy.” He jokes, sliding his tongue back and forth between his teeth. “Who wants coffee?”
I bark out a laugh, shaking my head at him while I move to stand because Kai Kingston is nothing if not persistent.
“Let’s go, fuck boy.”

“What’s on your mind, big brother?”
He locks his jaw, flexing his hand on the wheel while he takes mine with the other one. “What was she even doing in Vegas by herself?”
“She didn’t say.” I lick my lips, rolling my head to look out the window. “This was just a few weeks after your uncle died in the car accident that almost killed her, right? Maybe she just wanted to let off a little steam.”
“Or maybe she knew Katherine killed him and went digging for dirt without telling us.” He bites out, finally voicing what we’re both thinking but not saying.
“Yeah, maybe.” I whisper, picking at my chocolate croissant.
Funny if you think about it, because she was looking for Katherine’s family and there I was, right under her nose without her knowing it.
Wonder how much she’d have hated me if she knew who I really was.
Damon squeezes my hand and I look up, frowning when he glares. “Don’t.”
I lock my jaw, looking away.
Mind reading prick.
“I heard that.”
I snap my head to his and he smirks, slowing down to drive through the school gates. He pulls up in his usual spot between his brothers and kills the ignition, then he turns to face me fully and leans over to pull my eyes to his.
“She loved you, punk.” He whispers, tangling his fingers in my hair. “Don’t let anyone take that away from you.”
