“Hungry. Are you staying at the Raphael?”

“It’s the only acceptable location in this godforsaken place.” I wink to show her that I’m kidding because my opinion of her home state has changed in a big way.

It played a part in making her the woman I love, and that’s enough for me.

“Who talks like that?”

“I told you. Rich people.”

“Well, rich person who happens to be my new boyfriend, take me back to your hotel, order me room service, and then fuck me.”

“Actually, since you’re so obsessed with pizza and junk food, I thought we’d stop by Il Lazzarone Pizza and bring it back to your parents’ place. I’ve rethought our plans and think we should spend the evening with them. I’d like to meet your siblings, who they told me are on the way over. Then we’ll go back to my hotel and I’ll fuck you until the morning.”

Mia’s eyes fill with tears. “You want to spend tonight with my family?”

“That’s why you came home, and that’s exactly what I want to do.”

And it’s true. There will never be another lie between us.

“Thank you,” she whispers.

“Mia, I love you.”

She jumps across the console and squeezes her body between me and the steering wheel, her mouth frantic on mine. As far as anI love youback, it’s perfect.

Just like her.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Mia

My heart isin my throat as Dean and I walk into my parent’s house. He loves me!

Mr. Unattainable. Mr. Fuckbuddy. Mr. Big Dick – loves me!

“Mia, Mia sweetheart,” Mom says, bringing me back to earth. She shakes her head, a giant smile on her face as our eyes meet. “Let me take those so you can hang up your jackets.”

“Thanks, Mom,” I return, handing her four boxes of pizza.

She passes them to Dad and then takes the container of wings and appetizer platter from Dean. “You said pizza. This is enough food to feed an army. Thank you, Dean. It’s very generous of you.”

He nods towards the dining room where laughter and non-stop chatter are emanating. “Sounds like you have an army to feed.”

Mom laughs. “Just the usual Saturday night gang. I can’t wait for you to meet the rest of our family.”

“You get together every Saturday night?” Dean asks with astonishment all over his face.

For someone who works basically 24-7, I’m sure making something like family game night a priority every Saturday evening is a foreign concept.

But he’s coming around.

“Not every Saturday,” Mom replies. “Sometimes we take the grandkids for a sleepover. Gives the big kids a little time alone.”

Phoebe flies out of the dining room, running towards us as fast as her little legs can go. She jumps into my arms, then wiggles around to face Dean. “Are you Auntie M’s Prince Charming?”

He lets out a hearty laugh. “I would like to be.” He holds his hand out to Phoebe. “I’m Dean. What’s your name?”

Phoebe stares at his hand as if he’s offering her a piece of liver, and it’s not hard to see that Dean hasn’t spent much time around children.
