A grin grows to exponential proportions on my face as I reply.

Mia: We have. Maybe you’ll progress to just mister one day.

Dean: Too bad, I was fond of Mr. Big Dick. Although the thought of you calling me mister while your hands are tied behind your back and you’re on your knees staring up at me is very appealing.

Mia: In that case, I’d call you sir.

Dean: I’m looking forward to hearing you moan all weekend.

Mia: That’s not a question.

Dean: No, it’s not. So make sure you’re available.

The logical, practical side of me knows that I should say no because I need to spend the weekend working, not moaning, but the rest of me wants Dean so badly that I’m aching.

Mia: Yes, sir.

I’m tempted to tell him about being involved – marginally – in his deal. But would that ruin everything for no reason?

Jane said it’s fine. I’m just not sure it feels fine.

Chapter Thirteen

Dean

Charity events aren’t exactlythe highlight of my life. It’s not because I don’t care, because I do – I give back in spades. I’m what Jeffrey calls camera shy. I’d prefer to just cut a check than attend yet another event filled with people who want something from me, whether it’s my money, time, or attention.

I’m beyond the point in my career where I need to spend money on networking opportunities, and events like the one I’m taking Mia to have just become a place where rich people go to see and be seen.

Mia.

I haven’t been able to get her out of my mind, and it will be a good test to see if she can fit into my world without causing any ripples. Even if she can’t, I’m not sure I’ll be able to quit her. I’d just have to confine our time together to the bedroom where she can’t impact me in the boardroom.

It didn’t escape my notice that the bank auditing Seneca is the same one Mia works for. However, we’ve been assigned some dweeb called Martin who looks like he hasn’t had pussy in years – if ever.

He’s got the perpetual frown of an auditor and the sour disposition to match. It’s a good thing a junior associate is dealing with him, which wouldn’t be the case if I had the chance to fuck Mia against the window of my office.

But if there’s one place I don’t want a bed partner, it’s nosing through my books, not to mention the conflict of interest that would make the situation completely unacceptable. Nothing can jeopardize this deal, which is enough to fund my next 10 business ventures.

No woman is worth that risk.

Though I’m starting to think Mia has the potential to be and that’s dangerous – very dangerous. I shouldn’t be scrolling through Chanel dresses and imagining what I want Mia to wear the next time I fuck her, but that’s exactly what I’m doing. And I spend another five grand on her dress, shoes, and lingerie without hesitation.

Maybe Gwynne was right in her most recent voicemail and I am a stupid asshole.

I’ve made a point to tell Mia I’m busy until the weekend to prove to myself that I don’t need to see her as often as I’m craving. But if I’m wasting time shopping during my meetings, then maybe I should just give in and scratch the itch.

“Can you get to the point, Henrik?” I demand.

I have no goddamn idea if he already did, but it’s something I would say and ensures he’ll repeat his key messages so no one realizes I haven’t been paying attention.

“The point is that you stand to make twelve million if you invest now. I’ve run the projections myself – three times – and verified the accuracy. It’s solid.”

“Then do it. And if you’re wrong –”

“I’m never wrong,” Henrik confirms, and that’s been true to date. His brain is a computer functioning at a higher frequency than everyone else’s.

“Then we’re good. Email me when it’s done. We’ll talk soon.”
