Bile rises in my throat, and I swallow it. "Yes. Not because she wanted it. And he's going to get a bullet in his head for it."
Felton scratches his cheek. "She's a gorgeous woman. Would it be fair to say this piece of shit will want her back?"
"Without a doubt. He thinks she's his property."
He nods. "Then I doubt they will hand her over to Military Intelligence Section 5. I'd bet money she'll get whisked over to the office that oversees the embassies. They have a holding cell. No one knows about it. But I've seen it."
"How?"
"I can't divulge. But if William thinks he owns her, he's going to make sure he gets her back. She probably only showed up on the treason list because he put her there."
"How did you know she was on the plane? We had other passports."
"Someone at the Bahamian airport took photos of you."
My heart sinks, thinking about Ryker and Julieta. "Did you detain Ryker and the woman he was with as well?"
"Ryker? I haven't seen him since Chad."
"They didn't make it to Bermuda?"
"No."
I pound my fist on my leg. We both walked right into a trap. "If Ryker and Julieta were stopped in the Bahamas, why were Penelope and I allowed to come to Bermuda?"
"My guess is it's due to the British connection Bermuda has. Whatever happened to Ryker and this woman, someone has a different agenda with them."
He pulls onto a road that leads to a private runway. A jet is waiting with the door open. "There's your ride."
"Thanks. I owe you."
"Stop saying that. And if you need anything else, I'm here."
"Thank you." We slap hands, and I step up into the plane. The pilot, Ledell, introduces himself and shuts the door. There's no flight attendant, only the two of us.
The flight is close to eight hours. No matter what I do, I can't get Penelope's terrified expression out of my mind, or her voice yelling, "Axel, tell me you won't forget your promise."
The best-case scenario is I'm able to rescue her in London, get her to safety, then find Millie.
But my gut says I'm going to have to choose.
