Vanessa elbows him and sets another one down.
"Ow!" he mumbles.
"Behave," she commands.
He slaps her ass, and she rolls her eyes.
"We need to get going," Blaise informs us.
"Do you want to take breakfast with you?" Sloane asks.
"I'm okay," I say.
"I'll take it," Ryker says.
Sloane hands him an egg sandwich, and we leave.
The drive to the doctor's office lasts fifteen minutes, and we take in the beautiful scenery of curvy cliffs, cheerful-colored houses, and more multicolored blue water.
"This island is gorgeous," I say.
"Not as gorgeous as you," Ryker murmurs in my ear and kisses my neck.
I kiss him, and he puts his arm around me. I snuggle into his chest, happy that he seems to be doing better today.
The X-ray doesn't take long. Sloane's doctor friend gets us in and out. Ryker has three ribs broken, and the doctor reiterates what Sloane told him to do the day before. His right hand doesn't have any broken bones, but the doctor and Sloane both suspect there are tendons and nerves damaged. The X-ray doesn't show it, but they both think therapy will help heal him.
When we return to the house, Hunter and Vanessa are waiting for us.
"Well, what's the damage?" Hunter asks.
"Three broken ribs and my hand has tendon and nerve damage," Ryker replies.
Vanessa rises and rubs her hands together. "Okay. Let's get started, then."
"Started?"
"Therapy. No time like the present."
Ryker takes a deep breath. "Okay. Thanks."
One therapy down, one to go.
I pull Sloane aside. "I think Ryker and I need to figure some things out. If your offer is still open, do you think you could work with us?"
She smiles. "Sure."
"I need to work on him about this, but if all else fails, I'll just have Hunter slap him some more."
Her eyes widen. "Hunter slapped him?"
"Yeah, but it was a good thing."
"Like aboys will be boystype of thing?"
"I guess you can call it that."
"Okay, well, let me know when you want to start."
