Naomi scrunches her face. "Ohh, that's kind of a loaded question."
"What do you mean?"
"Nothing. She's a therapist who's been helping all of us and is also a medical doctor. Millie will probably respond well to her."
Naomi slides closer and wraps her arm around me. "How are you?"
I get choked up again. "Ryker..."
She tugs me closer. "Andre will figure it out. If he could kill Santiago and his brother, he will get past whatever obstacles they have to at Jonas's compound. And now that Jonas is dead..."
I freeze.
"What's wrong?" she asks.
"Jonas is dead?"
Her eyes widen. "Yes. Zoe killed him."
I gape at her. "How did...when?"
"Weeks, maybe over a month ago. I didn't get a clear timeline."
I rise.
"Julieta, why are you pacing?"
"If Jonas and Santiago are both dead, and now Miguel is, too—"
"Miguel, your ex-husband?"
Heat rises to my face. "I didn't know until a few weeks ago."
"Know what?"
"He was the Guatemalan drug lord. I don't understand how I could not have known all these years."
"Don't beat yourself up."
Silence.
"You said he's dead, too?" Naomi asks.
"Gustave said Ryker killed him a few nights ago in a fight on Jonas's compound."
"If Jonas is dead, who is running things?"
"His brother, Evandro."
Naomi paces with me. "Dirk killed the Mexican drug lord, Jorge Cano, when he rescued Zoe."
Chills dig into my bones. "So, Evandro is the only blood relative left from any of the drug cartels alive?"
"The U.S. President just increased the funding for the War on Drugs. He'll have more power to set the Global Leaders' plan in motion. There won't be a drug territory fight to slow it down."
"Who will have more power?" Andre booms.
We spin, and Andre and Dirk stand with crossed arms.
