Glad I didn't put my full faith in you getting me to safety when you can't even put up an attempt to save me.
I walk off the plane, and Roman says nothing. I don't tell him goodbye or wish him luck. For once, I'm glad I trusted my gut about the kind of man he is.
The driver opens the door, and I get in and sit across from Emilia and Malin. Gustave speaks with the driver and then slides next to me.
As soon as the door shuts, he turns. "Are you okay? I'm sorry I had to scare you."
"Yes."
"You and I are getting on a flight to Bermuda with Millie. I will drop you off to safety."
"Why aren't you two going?" I ask Malin and Emilia.
Malin pulls Emilia closer. "We can't get into details."
Emilia hands me the note she wrote. "Give this to my sister."
I put it in my pocket and new tears form. "Ryker is at Jonas Torres's compound. If he isn't rescued soon, and they find out I'm gone, he will die."
Malin and Emilia's faces fall.
"We know. Tell Andre. He will know what to do," Malin says.
"It will be known you are with me," Gustave replies. "Do not worry about Ryker. They will think I claimed you for my pleasure."
"Who are you?"
"I'm a global leader."
I scoot away from him, full of new fear.
"I'm only part of them to try and stop them," Gustave explains.
"You can trust him," Malin assures me.
"You can," Emilia insists.
"Okay, sorry."
Gustave smiles. "It's all right. You have a right to be scared."
"We can't help Ryker right now. Tell Andre, and he'll know what to do," Malin reiterates.
"Does Millie always sleep this soundly?" She hasn't moved since they came on the plane.
Emilia takes a deep breath. "We had to drug her. It won't have any long-term effects. No one can see her face until you get on the next plane." She pulls the blanket down and repositions her in her arms.
My hand flies to my face. She has red hair, fair skin, and freckles. "She looks just like Penelope."
"Yes. She is very sweet."
"Is she scared?"
"She was at first. I showed her a picture of Penelope, and she cried and kept saying, 'I want my mummy.'"
My heart breaks further.
Emilia pulls another bag out of her oversized one. "Take this. The picture is in it."
