Ryker refocuses on my lacerations. He takes his time, gently removing debris. When he finishes cleaning them out, he sprays something on them and blows warm air on my legs.

His blue eyes meet mine, and his hand rests on the outside of my knee. His thumb slowly moves up and down, lighting a torch of desire in my soul.

A throbbing I haven't felt in years creates an ache in my loins, and I pull my leg back.

"Oh. Sorry," he mumbles.

"Can we get some air?"

He rises, pulls me up, then leads me outside. Scouring the camp, he takes me over to the Jeeps and opens a door.

"Are we going somewhere?"

"No, but there aren't a lot of places to sit. Figured you were tired of the dirt and hard ground floors."

"My ass got used to it. Good thing I have some fat back there," I try to joke.

"I wouldn't call any part of your body fat." It's dark out, but the heat in his eyes once again reappears.

At least I think it's heat. Again, what do I know?

Crap. Why did I say that?

Do not talk about your body parts.

Instead of dropping it, I blurt out, "I won't ever have to get ass surgery. I could be the spokesperson for the plastic surgeon selling ass implants."

He licks his lips and swallows hard.

I turn away from him.

Why can't I shut my mouth?

This is so embarrassing.

He clears his throat. "You're a flight attendant?"

My gut flips. "Was. I hope I never am again."

"Why?"

"Time for a career change. Forget I said anything," I mumble.

"Julieta."

I release a breath and turn toward him.

"How did you get kidnapped?"

"I got off my flight, and Santiago was waiting for me on the runway."

"Where were the pilot and the rest of the crew?"

I snort. "There is no other crew. The pilot leaves the minute it lands."

"They leave women on the runway by themselves?" he snarls.

I shrug. "No one is more dangerous than the passengers or owners of the airline. What does it matter?"
