"Okay. I think it's best if we share this. I'm not sure when we'll come to a town or what the food situation is going to be like."

She sits up with her legs crisscrossed. "Just give me a bite, and I'll be fine."

"I was thinking more along the lines of you have half and I have half."

"You're bigger. You need more than I do."

I hold it to her mouth. "Eat."

She bites it then I take one and put it back to her mouth.

She only eats a quarter of the bar and refuses to eat more. "I'm done. You have the rest."

"Julieta, I'm fine with half. Eat."

She snuggles back down under the blanket then puts her arm over my torso and rests her head on my chest. "I'm good."

"Julieta—"

"Eat, Ryker. I've had enough." She yawns. "We can always steal some chicken eggs and eat them raw if needed."

"Is that something you've done before?"

"Nope. And I hope we don't have to. Oh, I know how to milk cows, too."

I finish the bar and slide back down next to her. "You can milk a cow?"

She tilts her head up. "Mm-hmm. Why do you sound so impressed?"

"I don't know how to milk a cow."

"Really? I thought you had animals?"

"Never had cows or milked any."

"It's not that hard."

I kiss her forehead. "I'll keep your egg-stealing, cow-milking talent in mind if we run into any food issues."

She yawns again. "What time do we need to get up?"

"Early. I'm sure the farmer will be in here at the crack of dawn."

"So our plan is to go back to Tinker's, get a disguise, then a new passport for me?"

"Yep."

She wrinkles her forehead.

"What's wrong, baby?"

"I'm well-known at the airports. I've been in them since I was eighteen. I don't want to get caught, but I won't forgive myself if something happens to you because of me."

I stroke her back and kiss her head again. "Nothing is going to happen. We will get a good disguise, and everything will be fine."

"You make it sound so easy."

"Go to sleep and let me worry about the details."
