"Want to go find them with me?"

"Sure."

Dirk and I go outside. The waves gently lap over the pink sand, and the water is so clear you can see the bottom even from the deck of the house.

"Wow. This is incredible. How did Blaise get this place?"

Dirk shrugs. "Lucked out, I guess. It is amazing."

"I don't mean to be rude, but when will you go get Ryker?"

Dirk stops. "Hunter is on his way. He needs to drop Vanessa off and then we will leave. We can't do this without him. Blaise will stay with you ladies."

I cover my hand over my face and breathe, trying to get air to my lungs.

Dirk pulls my hands off my face. "Hunter is trying to get here by tonight. I know this is hard, but Ryker is tough. As soon as Hunter lands, we will leave."

"Thank you."

His eyes turn dark. "You don't need to thank us. We're brothers. And we're going to kill every one of those bastards who ever allowed him to be harmed."

Ryker

Since the nightI gave Josie her freedom, I can't stop seeing her face when she sat across the table from me.

How could I have not known it wasn't Julieta?

It's haunting me. It's like seeing Josie's face, which is identical to Julieta's, has only made the ache intensify.

"They are coming,"Maureen says, and I once again scan my cell. Like always, she is nowhere in the room.

"Who?"

"She needs you. Tonight, you won't want to fight, but you have to."

"What are you talking about?"

"You're here because of him."

I pace the cell. "Maureen, who are you talking about?"

"He set you up. All of you. It was a trap, spun behind closed doors."

I freeze. "Maureen, now you know I don't like these codes. Tell me who you're talking about."

The door to my cell flies open, and a tray of food slides across the floor.

"Eat, you need the energy,"Maureen instructs.

"So you aren't going to tell me," I huff and shove a bite of slop in my mouth.

"He's going to try and take you out in the first blow. Watch your temple."

"I always watch my temple."

"You didn't the other night. That guy was an inch away."
