I tuck a lock of her hair behind her ear. "She's still passed out pretty hard."

He looks at his watch. "She'll wake up in the next three hours. When she does, have her drink as much water as you can. Emilia and Malin only rescued her a few days ago, so it's best to find a doctor you trust and have them examine her."

My heart races. "What did they do to her?"

"We aren't sure. Hopefully nothing, but it's best to find a doctor."

"Sure. I will."

The plane comes to a stop, and the seat belt light dings. We unbuckle our restraints.

"Do you want me to carry her?" Gustave asks.

"I have her."

He picks up the bag Emilia gave me, and we go to the car waiting for us on the runway.

"No immigration?"

"Not for me. I'm a global leader."

"So, we aren't safe in Bermuda, either?"

"You're safer here than lots of places. But immigration is always going to be a risk."

He shuts the vehicle door.

"Where am I going?"

"Malin gave me the address where Andre should be. Tinker told him."

"He saw Tinker?"

"I don't know the entire story."

I stare out the window for most of the ride through the twisted roads, gazing out over the cliffs and amazed by the beautiful beaches and water.

We pull into a driveway.

"This is where we part," Gustave says.

"You aren't coming in?"

"It's best if I don't get out. The Global Leaders will think you are with me. I will send notice I'm claiming you. I'll wait until you are in the house before I let the driver leave."

"All right. Thank you. I..."

He holds his hand in the air. "Don't thank me. Take care of Millie and give my regards to Andre."

"You know him?"

His eyes glisten. "Malin and Andre saved my daughter."

A chill runs through me. "Oh. Is she okay?"

He smiles. "She's doing great. It was years ago."

The door opens.
