She grabs my arm. "Can we stop?"
"Zoe, we aren't on vacation. We need to get to Valladolid."
"I know, but we're so close to Valladolid, aren't we?"
"Which is why we need to keep going."
"But you said it was your favorite place, and I've always wanted to see the limestone formations."
It is an amazing place.
"You have to go underground to see them,” I tell her.
"I have orange hair, sunglasses, and a hat. Can't we go for a few minutes? Let's just see if it's even busy right now."
I sigh but turn in the direction the sign is pointing. "This isn't a good idea, Zoe. We shouldn't deviate."
She points to the nearly empty parking lot. "Look. There are only two cars beside someone working on fixing their flat tire. Can we go? Pleeease?"
"You're begging." God I love it when you beg.
"Is there something specific you want me to do to make you decide in my favor?" Her face is the brightest I've seen in days.
She looks so excited.
It is one of the most amazing places on Earth I've ever experienced.
There really isn't anyone here.
"An extra half hour isn't going to make a difference. It's going to be dark soon, and no one is probably coming for the day. We will probably have the entire place to ourselves. Come on. We may never be able to come back here again."
"We will."
"We don't know that for sure."
I sigh. "Fine. Put on your bathing suit."
She claps then kisses me.
"We aren't staying long."
"Yes, sir."
I smack her ass as she climbs in the back, and I do the same. Once we have our swimsuits on, we get out of the car.
As we go down the stairs, a couple and a group of four guys pass us. I move in front of Zoe to give them room and shield her further, and when we get to the underground oasis, it's empty.
"We probably only have about thirty minutes before it gets too dark to be in here."
She gapes. "This place is awesome!"
I glance around. "It is, isn't it?"
She strips down and removes her bikini.
"What are you doing?"
"No one is here. Taking advantage of the seclusion." She takes a few steps in and dives under the water.
