"The waves."
She tilts her head. "Do you surf?"
"Yep. Any chance I get."
Her eyes light up. "Will you teach me?"
"You want to learn?"
"Yes. I've always wanted to do that but never tried."
"All right, my little adrenaline junkie. When all this is over, consider me your surf instructor."
She wiggles her eyebrows and bites on her smile. "Does it come with any benefits?"
"For you, I'll include the full-service schedule."

Once the sun sets,it doesn't take long to get to Omoa. We stop at a convenience store, and Julieta and Ryker go inside and look up Tinker's address in the phone book.
Hunter and I get out to stretch our legs.
"How do you know your friend is going to be able to get us passports?"
Hunter grunts. "Tinker can get any type of identification, and it'll be legit. He always could."
"How?"
He shrugs. "He just always knows the right people."
"Hmmm. He sounds a bit sketchy."
Hunter's expression and tone turn more serious. "He's a great guy, and you can trust him, Flower."
"How do we know the wrong person won't be who he turns to for the passports? What if they are bad and see our faces and then someone we don't want coming after us does?" I blurt out.
Hunter wraps his arms around me. "Tell me what you haven't told me. Why did the guerrillas kidnap you?"
"I can't get into it." I turn away to avoid his gaze.
"Vanessa—"
"No. Don't ask me to talk about that. It's not safe for you or anyone else to know about," I firmly ask.
His eyes darken. "Then tell me why. What's going to happen if I know?"
"They will come after you."
He cups my cheeks. "No, they won't. They aren't going to know if you tell me."
"You can't be sure."
His face hardens. "The only way someone will know is if I say something, which I never would."
The passing of traffic fills our silence.
